Murat ikinci specifically addressed this claim: "All ballistic missiles can reach speeds over 5 Mach. What is important here is going over 5 Mach during the course and striking the target over 5 Mach. When we look from this perspective Tayfun block 4 is a hypersonic ballistic missile"
One interesting thing about YDYFR radar is that despite it being a "maritime surveillance radar" the Raytheon equalivent of it can detect and track but not target lock(because of low fidelity of the radar wave) F-35 sized aircraft from 80-120 km away and big passenger type aircraft from 280+ km...
Very nice and informative article hovewer is this sentence unfinished or am I misunderstanding:
"Such radars are set up as fixed sites due to the amount and size of antennas required, and can be considered on a more strategic level compared to a generic transportable radar that performs direct...
Some interesting things from TÜBİTAK 2025 report.
A contract modification to increase the range and capabilities of Gökhan has been made and contract for a new Gökhan block was signed. New block Gökhan will be one of the longest range air to air missiles in NATO inventory
Integration of...
I was worried after some news claiming that Anka-3's new prototypes will fly at the end of the year but apparently it is still slated for delivery this year.
The official range of sub-harpoon block-II is 120km while Akata's is 250 km. And that isn't even counting the advantages of being fully in control of flight path and terminal maneuvers, your local data link and ability to re-target on the path. I wouldn't call that not bringing much to the...
Hopefully Akata is ready soon because a sub launched missile with these flight characteristics would be our current best deep strike asset. And would curb the ambitions of some of our over-eager neighbours
Apparently it didn't use its seeker at all in this test and used only GPS + INS. So ground clutter shouldn't really affect anything except the flight path
Very nice to finally see interceptor UAVs but in current form it looks entirely manual and doesn't have any autonomous targeting or even targeting help. Hopefully they add it soon because it would hugely increase hit percentage
Q
10 Tayfun's and 8 SOM very nice news. I wonder what is the production time frame for a package like this? I would hope for a week but a more realistic guess could be a month if not little more
Storm shadow and Som has the same purpose but are not really in the same class. Storm shadow weighs 1300kg whereas som J is merely 530kg. Of course I would want Som to reach those ranges but I don't know how feasible it is with this much of a weight difference
From what I understand not exactly owned by the Baykar the company but Haluk Bayraktar has a sizeable stake in it. Their CEO called themselves "little sister company of Baykar" in a recent interview
Yes the advantages of gimbal is quite obvious but I was more talking about the reason for starting with stationary camera. Especially for Kemankeş-2 when they already have experience flying an extremely similar system
