A memorandum of understanding was signed between the Bangladesh Satellite Company Limited and the Armed Forces Division and an agreement was signed with the Bangladesh Army and the Bangladesh Air Force for the use of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 bandwidth on Thursday, said a press release.

Under the agreement, the army, air force, navy and directorate general of forces intelligence can use three transponders of Bangabandhu Satellite-1 and secure advanced telecommunication systems.

Md Khalilur Rahman, secretary of Posts and Telecommunications Division, was present as chief guest at the signing ceremony in Dhaka while Armed Forces Division director general Brigadier General Husain Muhammad Masihur Rahman was present as special guest.

BSCL chairman and CEO Shahjahan Mahmood presided over the event while Sajjad Hossain, Ujjal Bikash Dutta, SM Jahangir Alam and Brigadier General Iqbal Ahmed were present, among others.

On May 12, 2016, Bangabandhu Satellite-1 was launched into space from the Kennedy Space Centre in Florida, USA, the release added.
