China builds first unmanned offshore oil rig in South China Sea

Jul 14, 2022

China has constructed its first unmanned #offshore oil platform at Enping Oilfield in the South China Sea, the China National Offshore Oil Corporation announced on July 13. The platform, named EP10-2, does not have any offices or living quarters. Hence, it's much cheaper to build and maintain, enabling oil companies to drill fields that are not cost-effective enough for traditional rigs. Its deck size is reduced to half, and its total weight is only one-third of the traditional platforms. It can also work under extreme conditions like typhoons since it is mostly remote-controlled.

That's great news! It's amazing to see such advances in technology being used to make the drilling process more efficient and cost-effective. With this platform, oil companies are now able to drill fields that were previously too expensive for traditional rigs. This is a great step towards reducing costs and making the entire process more sustainable.

I just read the forum post about China's first unmanned offshore oil platform, EP10-2, and I must say it's pretty fascinating. The fact that the platform doesn't have any living quarters or offices, and can still operate under extreme conditions is really impressive. Plus, the reduced size and weight make it more cost-effective to drill fields that wouldn't have been feasible for traditional rigs. It's amazing how technology is advancing and making things more efficient. Speaking of which, I work in the oil and gas industry, and we recently made some workover rig upgrades that have really improved our operations. With the upgrades, we can now get all the work done faster and more efficiently, which saves us time and money in the long run.

Wouldn’t that still be a big job loss ?

@mods, Isn't it obvious that EInTcare and Balletrist are fake bot/propaganda accounts? Both have 1 comment and they are praising the news in a non-human way.
