That is only training variant.
Can't wait for this ship to be replaced with new ship.
If Van Speijk class were planned to be replaced with newer one (6 new boat in same class, isn't it?) then older boat with same role i.e. Malahayati, Fatahillah is it will be replaced or just left without replacement in future ?

Oh no, the torp. Has rust on it 🤧
Indonesian Rusty Torpedo
4EEC8ADD00000578-0-image-a-16_1533719192160.jpg

+20 Tetanus.
+40 Rust Storm.
-5 Speed.

One of the best kept secrets of the Indonesian Navy, the rusty torpedo is a deadly weapon despite its unappealing appearance. Even a graze from the non-exploding and recoverable training version is enough to cause hull breach and severe flooding to its surface and submarine targets due to its fast-acting self-replicating rust molecules which is often more than enough to force enemy ships to return to their base.

While slower than most other torpedos, the live version is even more deadly since it doesn't even need to explode on impact or near its target because the explosion of its warhead will create a cloud of rust debris above, on and below the surface with a lethal radius of about 5 km. This cloud of rust molecules will render any ships, submarines and airplanes unlucky enough to get engulfed in it to stop working and disintegrate in a matter of minutes.

Even worse, the rust cloud is also known to cause severe tetanus symptoms on unprotected and unmodified human. Only those who have undergone intensive plastic surgery like most K-Pop stars are unaffected due to the large amount of synthetic materials embedded in their bodies.

The torpedo is suspected to have taken part in the misterious disappearance of China's PLA Navy's aircraft carrier Liaoning and her escorts on May 2028 as well as the sudden loss of communication of the US 7th fleet when two days later only one of its escorts was discovered fully covered in rust without anyone onboard, on April the same year.

I don't know if Ahmad Yani class will be replaced on hull per hull basis, if so then 6 FREMM will replace it(ignoring PKR10514).

Our ship is just jack of all trades, master of none, no exceptional special capability, even our parchim that is supposedly specialized for ASW is still lacking ASW capability compared to other TNI ships. Mostly our warship is multipurpose warship with ASuW(mostly exocet), ASW (lightweight torpedo), AAW(limited for short range self defense), so I am not sure about the role of the ship that will replace older ships(with whatever roles they have).
We can expect AH140 and FREMM have advanced AAW capability but AH140 possibly have more anti air missiles.
Ahmad Yani class, Fatahillah class will be replaced with AH140 and FREMM no need to worry about which ship will replace which.
And with the possibility of 30FFM being purchased, all of those old ships will be replaced slowly, even PT DRU OPV 90 m can replace parchim and fatahillah and offer better capability, also they can just modify the design to make it as a training ship to replace KRI Ki Hajar Dewantara 364.

You mean like torpedo counter measure / decoy? Didn't we already contracted a Turkish company for that? Not sure which one though.

What I mean is torpedo to kill torpedo (hard kill), rather than just using decoy(soft kill), if Turkey able to develop it then I don't see why not buy it from them.

I think you didnt even know what i said before. As retire ship, if 🇬🇧 really want to sell Type 23 to 🇮🇩, they need some adjustment to fuffil 🇮🇩 Navy spec. Same thing happend on 🇮🇹 Maestrale for 🇮🇩.

They will gladly sell it if u ask. Because why bother to spend resources if it will burden your entire fleet.

"It claimed that two Type 093 nuclear-powered attack submarines of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Navy were located by anti-submarine sonar operators aboard the HMS Kent and HMS Richmond frigates, (both type 23)"
Yes, by using active sonar. Fatahillah also can do that. Its a common capability. But, as a result you will reveal your mission to detect and your position, target sub will quickly notice you first from far away if not, submerged and put you on her periscope sight. Thats spotted not spotter.
Even PAL 2 Vrygates need 69 months to complete and you still insist "B3tTaH St!CcK w1tH N3w Fessel". The incursion no need that long to push and pull in 🇮🇩 water. 🇮🇩 at desperate need of new boats, either for patrol or defence matter.
Well, yes. We are in desperate need in case of new boat not second hand boat. But China, US, Russia, UK, France etc also need many many many many months to be what they become now.

If you want u can put all system and all weapon that u want on our entire old frigate and korvet, u can retrofit or upgrade. there is no different with buying second hand one, isn't?

Bla bla just stick with Parchim (more than forty years old) and Van Speijk (at least sixty years old) then until the next six to decade ahead when AH 140 and FREMM starting to get online and reach operational status, with the risk to be capsized and outgunned by the opponent. Even the Fatahillah class is already fifty years old now ....
Who is our opponent? China? Why they will be our opponent? Natuna?
So you trying to tell me because several issues regarding our ZEE and 9 dash line with China can resulting war between indonesia and china (well, Vietnam must be more fu@#$% up with paracel island, but still... no war)

Cupsized and out gunned. To be honest, even if we double our current fleet formation (submarines, frigates, korvet, Aux vessel, supply and logistic vesse) with totally new vessels, we still cannot win. Why, because China naval forces is more mature than us. They have endurance, logistic supply, experience, technology and the most feared one, Number.

I dont know what is wrong to stick with new vessel plan. To replace all old korvet and old frigates that we have now, we already get headaches, yet some people still want to add more old frigates to inventory and still, In the end there will be people start complaining about where is the road map 😒

Indonesian Navy need not compete ship per ship basis with China. We can't anyway.

A fleet 1/4th or even 1/6th of China's SS fleet is enough.

And I agree with stop gap solution. Any stop gap solution is still better than most Indonesian navy vessel afloat these days.

Speaking of stop gap solution, have US ever transferred their naval assets to other countries through EDA program? Reckon we could use some :)
