Three Turkish soldiers taking part in the Claw-Thunderbolt counterterrorism operation against PKK terrorists were killed in northern Iraq on Thursday, the Defense Ministry said.

In a statement, the ministry said terrorist targets were hit in airstrikes and six terrorists were killed in retaliation to the attack.

Numerous PKK terrorist hideouts and bases are located in northern Iraq, from where they carry out attacks on Turkey.

The Turkish military regularly conducts cross-border operations in northern Iraq. Turkey has long been stressing that it will not tolerate terrorist threats posed against its national security and has called on Iraqi officials to take the necessary steps to eliminate the terrorist group. Ankara previously noted that if the expected steps were not taken, it would not shy away from targeting terrorist threats.

Turkey has carried out a series of offensives since 2019 against terrorist groups in northern Iraq, particularly the PKK. The latest ones are Claw-Lightning and Claw-Thunderbolt launched this April in the Metina and Avasin-Basyan regions, while operations Claw-Tiger and Claw-Eagle were initiated in June last year.

The terrorist group often uses bases in northern Iraq just across Turkey's southern border to plot attacks in Turkey.

In its over 40-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of at least 40,000 people, including women, children and infants.

You will always live in our hears. May Allah accept your martyrdom. In the response to this attack 6 terrorists were killed and PKK should prepare for even heavier losses. No winter can stop the Turkish Armed Forces from punishing these rats!

Saw a video footage that was recorded from a distance and claimed to be from that attack you see 4-5 rocket impacts (probably RPG etc.) and hear fire exhange.

Hope their caves turn into big fat ovens and gas chambers after TuAF strikes these f*cking rats.

Disguised as "parliament building" Iraqi flag outside on the entrance but inside pictures of killed terrorists, that's how low they are.

That is why Iam supporting cross-border operations in Iraq and Syria
PKK, is becoming more dangerous and they are getting smarter
If Turkey even gave them a minor leeway of even a year, then expect an even greater and stronger PKK that Turkey will have even more difficulty clearing in the future

They should be removed from the roots rn or else the consequences will be severe

'Iraqi Turkmens can't return home due to PKK terrorists'

Iraqi Turkmens who previously lived in villages in Sinjar prior to the takeover by Daesh terrorists in 2014 are unable to return to their homes due to the PKK terrorists there, a board member of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITF) said Tuesday.

Nurettin Kaplan noted that although it has been over four years since Mosul’s liberation from Daesh terrorists, Turkmens cannot return to their homes due to the PKK's presence in Sinjar.

Most Turkmen villages are located near the border between Tal Afar and Sinjar, and their population is estimated to be over 30,000, according to Kaplan.
“Thousands of Turkmens have been trying to make a living throughout different parts of the country as internally displaced people. The PKK needs to leave Sinjar in order for the people to return to their homes,” Kaplan said.

The ITF board member highlighted that the PKK elements pose a threat to security, peace and stability in Sinjar and Tal Afar, as he called on Iraqi forces to ensure security in the region and enable the return of Turkmens. This could be done by carrying out an operation similar to the one conducted against Daesh terrorists four years ago, according to Kaplan.

The PKK terrorist group managed to establish a foothold in Sinjar in mid-2014 under the pretext of protecting the local Yazidi community from Daesh. Since then, the PKK has reportedly established a new base in Sinjar for its logistical and command-and-control activities. Around 450,000 Yazidis escaped Sinjar after Daesh took control of the region in mid-2014.

In its more than 40-year terror campaign against Turkey, the PKK – listed as a terrorist organization by Turkey, the United States and the European Union – has been responsible for the deaths of 40,000 people, including women and children.

The PKK's presence in Sinjar has been objected to by both Turkish authorities and the Kurdish Regional Government (KRG) for a long time.

The Turkish government has repeatedly called on the Iraqi central government to eradicate the PKK threat in the region. If not, Ankara says, the Turkish Armed Forces (TSK) will exercise its rights and launch a cross-border operation in the area as it did during Operation Euphrates Shield and Operation Olive Branch into Syria.

Moreover, the KRG says Sinjar's legitimate administration must be allowed to return to maintain stability in the region and the PKK's presence in the region is unacceptable.

If what Hawez Claims is True. This would be a huge turn of Events in the 40 Year PKK Conflict.

Three key things Erdogan has done in the PKK front which has fundamentally changed the PKK war:

1- It has largely pushed the war out of Turkey, mostly into Iraqi Kurdistan;
2- Economically, turned the war from losing billions to one that makes money via KRG oil, milking KRG;
3- Has made KRG claims to be 'economic independence' by exporting oil via Turkey to one which has made KRG extremely dependent on Turkey - not only thru oil but by integrating KRG into a sort of Turkish province - and thus politically very dependant on Turkey.

These three are interconnected: the KRG oil alone gives Turkey over $2Bln of easy money annually which can be used to finance the PKK operations and in the meantime, it has made KRG highly dependent on Turkey and also cooperate with TR against PKK.

If anybody had some insight that would be greatly appreciated

Turkeys greatest issue right now is the state-ifying structure in Syria. That will be the biggest test for Erdogan.
