As far as I know, Akkuyu nuclear power plant has been completely financed by Russia; i-e, the Turkish govt havent even paid a single penny into building the power plant (ppl can correct me on this as Iam not 100% sure). Thus, RTE cant sell the plant since he doesnt have any shares at all within the plant. In fact, rn, Rosatom is searching for buyers to buy around 40-47% (no. Can be wrong but for sure they are looking for buyers to buy a decent chunk of the shares but not majority!) of the shares in order to regain some of the costs spent on building the nuclear power plant

This is why Iam confused. Why on earth did they do such things? Even if RTE lacked money, the govt doesnt have any shares in the first place to sell. Therefore, i think the cause isnt monetray but something else

Let me enlightening you.
It is NORM and PRACTICE between 2 countries to SIGN Agreement for Big projects which need many years to build.
Also Side 2 must be sure, protecting themself from Side 1 that they will not steal the money and lose years of planed project
That is why Turkiye do not gave money russia for the Project ( it is not normal and expect that Turkiye will give money for the project which is not finished and not operational.....................after that Turkiye have obligation to pay money + interest)

Procedure is following
-Side 1 provide money and provide all knowledge to build the Project.
-Side 2 sign on agreement that they will pay back invested money + interest to Side 1 when project is finished and project is operational (or sign second agreement annex that when is operational Side 1 will operate it and Side 2 will keep paying untill dues are paid off )

Issues are following
Each of the party can brake agreement with consensuses, But One thing remain.......Project is build on territory of the OWNER

Akkuyu NPP annual generation of power is about 35TWh -> 35billion kWh now do the math and multiply it with 0,09cent/kWh.

Depending on how well it is built or how good a technology is used a Nuclear plant lasts between 20-40years. It definitely needs major upgrading and renovation after 20 years.
A nuclear reactor’s lifespan is around 10 years. So they need changing every 10 years.
If it is leased for 20 years, it is as good as given to the Russian company for good.
If you Google and ask who owns Akkuyu Nuclear Plant you get your answer. Rosatom!
With a guaranteed purchase of energy too!
It doesn’t look good!

quote:
Recalling that the electricity to be produced at Akkuyu costs $12.35 cent per kilowatt-hour excluding VAT

So if I am understanding this correctly, TAI will be obliged to hire Qatari engineers regardless of whether they are the best qualified candidate or not?
The decision to replace the Turkish contractor at Akkuyu follows other rather hostile decisions taken by Russia in the last weeks and months according to Dünya:

There is basically nothing stopping Turkey from going the full nine yards and slamming Russia with sanctions and green-lighting military operations now. Cooperation with them appears to be a net loss now.

Erdogans cabinet is full of people who jack off to russia.

I doubt it lets not forget how Erdogan and Dogu perincek are allies.

People think Dogu perincek is some man with no power when his cohorts are literally in Erdogans government.

Not really
A MoU isnt a set deal; in fact, it is more of a general acknowledgement of the main points through which a definitive deal can be signed. Moreover, as far as I know, Qatar doesnt have the necessary universities to teach aerospace knowleedge to its citizens; therefore, any qatari citizen that would have such a degree would have taken it from Western universities under the Qatari govt funding and this means that they are normally the cream of the top of the Qatari population. This deal is akin to the one in Malaysia and Pakistan in which TAI just sucks any qualified engineer into its pool of workers

Really proud of TAI. They are literally following the examples of Lockheed Martin and Boeing; since these companies are doing exactly the same things as TAI but on a larger scale. TAI is doing well to learn from the big boys

Completely agree tbh
I know that the govt may feel like they didnt lose shit since no penny have been spent from the Turkish govt and the state pockets into the power plant, but still, this slap from Russia needs to be returned back with a big gift of 3 more slaps!

What are your thoughts on this?
If you ask me they kind of sound fishy. Is it possible to have 1000 km/h speed with 2500 km range and at the same time carrying 150 kg cargo payload and a heavy communication payload. They say that they are going to use checzh turbojets (im assuming from PBS). I know these numbers are all maximum numbers and drone does not need to accomblish all these features at the same time but it just doesnt make sense to use an unefficient turbojet and have these extreme numbers. If these numbers are true SOM can easily go 1000+ Km with the new turkish engine.
At full payload this thing will be heavier then SOM and also it will have greater drag and as a result it will need higher thrust. This means it will have higher fuel consumption. How big the fuel tank going to be? Bigger than the drone itself?

Retired Aselsan director hired as new director of BMC power… lol RTE won’t even let people retire. He must be really low on qualified personnel.
That is true but it isnt a bad thing tbh
Companies like TAI is even sucking any qualified engineers from Pakistan, Malaysia, Africa, and Qatar

Turkish defense companies are growing so rapidly, and are carrying out tons of defence projects at the same time with an expected short delivery date; just look at recent number of TAI employees, they increased by around 30-47% during the LAST YEAR only. The same is for Baykar, Roketsan, and Aselsan as well
Turkish defence industry is growing so rapidly that the local population and workforce cant even keep up with such growth.

Have you watched recent Mr.Temil Kotil interview? He himself states that money isnt a problem since the govt gives us as much as we want but the most important thing is ppl. You need such ppl to be Qualified, Patriotic, Ingenius, and honourable which isnt easy to find

Hurjet alone is a project initiated by TAI in 2017 and only 200 days are left till its flight can you believe a nation that havent developed fighter jets before, just somehow become able to develop a sophisticated jet in only 7 years? Just look how much it took the Indians to develop Tejas aircraft or France to fully commission their Rafales jets or China and their domestic jets or Pakistan and their JF-17 and you will understand that the rate of growth in the Turkish defence industry is just astronomical. Hell in only 5 years, you guys literally attracted the annoyed gazes of all major arms producers of the world. The TB2 alone is an example; it has the cheapness of the chinese, the effectivenes amd ease of use of the americans combined alone

And not only Hurjet, you have:
TFX, MIUS, TIUS, TF-2000, Milden submarines, Piri class submarines, Siper, Hisar, TB3, Anadolu LHD, I-class frigates etc....

All of these projects havent even completed the 2 or 3 decade mark and most are near completion; hell, some hsvent even completed the 1 decade mark. Some countries are working for 5 to 6 decades in only ONE of such projects and yet cant complete it

This just shows how MUCH POTENTIAL the Turkish defence industry had and had been buried deep for the last 80 years for Gods sake. If such potential was utilised early on, the Turkish flag may be flying over Greece rn

Oh we know all that. But if they intend to solve the brain drain that way they’ll not have the best and brightest. Only best and brightest among those that apply.

and not to demean anyone. But trash among trash is still…

True and that is why TAI's Temil Kotil himself said that they are targeting engineers from even a young age, especially those who are at their first year of universities. Moreover, Techno Fest exists for a reason; i-e, to propel young minds to start working to develop such projects.

BTW, according to Temil Kotil, most of the engineers involved in TAI and Hurjet are actually the young new generation

And to stop the brain drain, you need infrastructure and Stable economy; I know that the economy's inflation is skyrocketing due to low interest rates but Turkey also needs infrastructure and such is only built by those who are EXTREMELY PATRIOTIC only even if they are a bit denser than other Turkish engineers who leave the country.

I was always thought that Rome wasnt built in a day; some sacrificies and blood is necessary to pave the way for future generations

Yes, some engineers are brighter than TAI's current engineers but refused to stay and invest in their country due to inflation etc; however, if such engineers cant even risk their lives for their country, how do you expect them to stay during events such as war etc? How do you expect them to pave the way of the future generations by acting as role models when they escaped the country due to inflation alone?

When Ataturk took command of the remaining Turkish army, after the Ottoman collapse and defeat, Turkey was just a small land but he strived and spilled blood to restore the Turkish glory and make a state where Turkish citizens can live with dignity. He could have just escaped and went to any other nation and offer his services for their armies but he didnt and took the hard path

I respect each and every Turkish engineer who, despite the current economic conditions, remained in Turkey to build the path through which the future generations can use to defend themselves. Yes they may be denser than others who escaped in terms of talent or intelligence but for sure their hearts are weaker to NONE!
Develop a shitty plane today and develop a better one tomorrow but the most important step is to develop the PLANE

(Western) Media tells us only one side of the coin. They say, 1000 engineers leave Turkey. They dont tell us, that they go back one year later. Followed by another 1000 engineers.
