Surprise!

This is one of the major uncertainties surrounding Emmanuel Macron's trip. Will Indonesia announce a new Rafale order during the French president's state visit, or on July 14, when Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto will be France's guest of honor? According to concordant sources, the figure is more likely to be around a dozen combat aircraft (between 8 and 16, depending on Jakarta's financial resources, according to other sources).

An interesting analysis by former program leader of KF-21.

1. #India failed #Rafale, not Rafale failing India.

2. India's poor training was responsible for misuse of Rafale.

3. The reason why Pakistan intercepted Indian comm was because of Russian system.

4. Because Indian military equipment consist of multiple heterogeneous systems from many countries (ie France, US, and Russia), communication had to be made over unencrypted channels.

5. Pakistan on the other hand used only Chinese jets and SAMs, ensuring operational commonality.

6. The former KF-21 program leader still rates Rafale/Meteor above J-10CE/PL-15 and would choose Rafale over J-10CE, but the proper training is required to make the maximum use out of the platform, just having it alone doesn't guarantee a victory.

The KF-21 program leader suggested splitting assets into homogenous groups of same types, not mix French and Russian fighters into single theatre and try to control them at same time. Communication and datalink must be secured between assets.

That's why interoperability is important.

TNI should standardize the datalink used, so their asset can communicate with each other, (not only just communicate as in "literal voice/radio") but to transfer/share various information/data. Such as radar tracks, IFF status, target data etc.
Link 16 j series message: https://resources.synthesys.co.uk/defence/datasheet-link-16-message-table.pdf

Thus need to use same data link, otherwise will need gateway to bridge communication between different datalink.

Currently TNI already thinking about network centric warfare, and already got SIK (sistem interopabilitas kodal) made by scytalis to handle different type of datalink used by different alutsista.
Not sure about the extent of SIK capability.

With the rumour about J10 and SU35, there will be problem with direct interopability between J10-Su35 with F16 and Rafale as they can't communicate directly, even between J10 and SU35 themself idk if they can talk.
