There are to many powerfull actors in this region and they are almost all rivals or enemies. Just one flame in the region could trigger a World War.

Turkey (militairy, population, strategic hub, infrastructure)

Iran (military, population, oil, nuclear energy)

Egypt (military, population, Suez Canal)

Qatar (oil, economy, Turkish support)

Israel (hightech, military, nuclear bomb, US support)

UAE (oil, economy)

Syria (oil, Russian and Iranian support)

Iraq (oil, Iranian support)

Saudi Arabia (oil, American support)

Jordania (British support)

We had the entire cold war play out and it never led to world war, nothing in the middle east will lead to a world war. Leaders of big nations are business men first and foremost and a world war where nations nuke each other is not good for business. However Proxy wars are going to become more and more fashionable.

Gaza is a highly populated urban place.

Indiscriminate bombings have always been used to great affect when it comes to urban areas.

Shows us once again how modern warfare does not draw a line between combatants and non combatants that everybody is a target.

Israel knows they can get away with it too hence there is no outrage or punishment.

@mulj Remember in 2014 when 13 "elite" golani were killed in a single night in Shujaiyya.... they leveled the whole neighborhood. If there's a ground invasion the fights could be deadlier and brings much more destruction to Gaza.

Some will condemn, some will make useless meetings but Israel will have free hands and get away with everything that will happen. Muslim countries are too busy fighting each others, the western world will turn a blind eye... Sad as it is.

Israel loses control over riots with dozens wounded, detained

Police say among those hurt is a pregnant Arab woman who was hit in the head in Lod and is now in serious condition; Arab mob set fire to hotel in Acre as police, fire services refused to come; 374 people arrested, many of whom teens as young as 13

Israel appears to have lost control over the nationwide riots by Arab and Jews as dozens of people were wounded and many detained following a night of unprecedented civil unrest in the country.

The latest outburst of Israel-Gaza violence has reached deeper into the country than any since the 2000 Palestinian intifada. Arab and Jewish mobs were seen rampaging through the streets, savagely beating people and torching cars, in cities and towns that just recently were praised for developing co-existence between Israelis and Palestinians.

The riots late Wednesday and early Tuesday took place in Jerusalem, Haifa, Lod, Tiberias, Acre, Umm al-Fahm, Bat Yam, Jaffa, Jisr a-Zarqa, Wadi Ara, Hadera and Be'er Sheva - where 22 people were arrested.

The police said at least 374 people were arrested over the nighttime riots, during which 36 police officers were lightly hurt. The police said many of the detained are teens aged as young as 13.

In the coastal city of Acre, Arab mob is suspected of attacking and seriously wounding a Jewish man amid clashes there on Wednesday evening.

He was apparently attacked with sticks and rocks. On Thursday morning, a hotel was set on fire in the Old City by an Arab mob. The fire spread to the nearby structure and the municipality said that in the wake of the riots, Israel Police and Fires and Rescue Services can't enter the Old City.

In Lod, where one of the largest riots took place, at least 20 people were wounded, including a 33-year-old pregnant Arab woman who was hit in the head and was in serious condition. She was taken to Assaf Harofeh Hospital where she safely gave birth.

At the Mahane Yehuda Market in Jerusalem, an Arab man was allegedly stabbed by Jewish mob and was seriously wounded. In the northern city of Tiberias, video uploaded to social media appeared to show flag-waving Israelis attacking a car.

In the northern Arab town of Umm al-Fahm, a Border Police officer was shot and moderately hurt. He was taken to Emek Medical Center in the Jezreel Valley. The ambulance that was transporting the officer was also attacked by rocks.

In apparent revenge attacks in Bat Yam, a large crowd of ultranationalists pulled an Arab man from a car and beat him until he lay on the ground motionless and bloodied. A hospital said he's in serious condition.

It later emerged the man is a resident of another mixed city of Ramla and a father of five. The man had massive laceration on his face and doctors conducted an emergency surgery to stabilize his condition.

Earlier, the mob smashed the windows of a popular, Arab-owned ice cream shop "Victory", while chanting, "Death to Arabs!" on live television during a standoff with Border Police, who would not allow them to move into neighboring Jaffa to clash with local Arab population.

In a late night television interview, President Reuven Rivlin said the country was gripped by civil war and urged citizens to "stop this madness." Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on both Jews and Arabs to cease attacks on each other: "It doesn,t matter to me that your blood is boiling. You can,t take the law in your hands," he said.

Pretty much. When i hear "ground incursion" from Israelis I'm just expecting them to level entire regions. I'm not expecting street to street fighting. From the Israeli perspective they hate arabs and sing daily songs of genocide towards them, no one will stop them. Most western media has dehumanised Muslims to such an extent that much of the world takes joy in hearing Muslims being killed.

For most of history the western world used to be the biggest haters of jews, today they worship the jews especially in christian circles.

Most Arab nations are too busy fighting against Turkey and the Iranians are no more then regional posers, whose real enemy is sunni Islam.

Second part of topic to reply, i think that you forgot to mention how sensitive israelis are about their invincibilty image and how vulnerable are they on their losses, they have superiority complex that they cherish religously, so you are right that they would have free hands but only for small limited amount of time, couple of weeks at most. If palestinians can sustain fight and inflict higher casualties then in 2014 operation is doomed from start, they already suprised them with large rocket salvos, so i have plausable reason to believe that they have more suprises in store for possible invasion and they have nothing to loose, cornered cat is most dangerous and determined one.
I hope it will not come to that, blood bath would be immense and there is always unpredictible iran proxies reaction, not just hezbollah this time.
You know everybody has contingency plans, we do not know what is palestinian and iranian one in case of invasion, i am mentioning iran from reason because only them are having open hostility towards israel amd they dramatically improved their responce options in last decade.

Grave mistake and strategic blunder from them, i conclude that hamas won this round if they decide for ground operation today. We can expect hezbollah entramce into the battle if they start aggresion on Gaza. Also, based on expirence from last incursion 2014 when palestinian resistance groups did not have modern antitank and antipersonal assets that they aquired some by the iranian help and created better defencive positions, this time i doubt that zionist soldiers will have easy walk into overpacked and denced teritory, also it is pr loss in advance on international level.
In 2014 they have many ATGMs, but Trophy worked well.

Erdogan: Sending international force to protect Palestinians viable idea

Erdogan is doing the dumbest mistake by talking about this with the Russians.

Russian peacekeepers means that place will be owned by them. We seen how Russian peacekeepers operate.

It is a political move to put pressure on Israel. Nothing more.

Urban warfare is different thats for sure.

If Israel is going to do a ground operation block by block they have to take Gaza.

Even if they took all of Gaza the population will be hostile to them. Status quo and a buffer works for them.

Hamas knows they cant take on Israel conventionally hence why they are trying to bait them to the streets for fighting but Israel wont risk it.

"Our weapons and our accumulation of power are for our land, for the protection of our people and the victory of our holy things."

"What distinguishes this battle is the unity of our people in all arenas and the unanimous choice of resistance."

“Despite the difference in military capabilities, we have launched massive missile strikes that countries have not dared to inflict on you ten times since the Nakba.”

"The decision to bomb Tel Aviv, Jerusalem, Dimona, Ashkelon, Assad, Beer Sheva and before and after is easier for us than drinking water."

“The enemy poured out his anger on residential apartments, public institutions, city objects, children and women to show the scale of destruction and the power of fire, and this cowardly show did not overshadow the world vision of your fragile essence, he groaned from our missile attacks, unprecedented in the history of the conflict "
