A Case For The Canadian Arleigh Burke "Flt IV"

You keep saying "vision" but what you're really saying is pipedreams right up there with nuclear subs and drones in the Arctic. Nothing wrong with being a dreamer of course....

A Case For The Canadian Arleigh Burke "Flt IV"

A see a few problems with your proposal. First of all who exactly will build these? the actual shipbuilding capacity in Canada is nearly maxed out. Davie is currently upgrading their yard to build CCG vessels and are at capacity doing CPF refits. The US can't do it because only two yards build...

Navy In Dire Need Of A Clear Canadian SSN Submarine Replacement Policy

I only assume that only recently you saw a statement by the sitting Prime Minister of Canada doubling down on his commitment that under no circumstances will Canada procure nuclear submarines. Of course nuclear submarines are the way to go for under the ice operations but the reality is it will...

    Navy Kingston Class replacement

The designs were done in Ottawa, more than likely the design will be done here not an off the shelf solution.

    Navy Kingston Class replacement

The Kingston Class has reached its design life of 25 years. After a through review of the class structural integrity ABS (American Bureau of Shipping) has determined the class can be extended up 15 additional years due to the shape the ships are in. HMCS Kingston the first ship to reach the 25...

    NEW LM CSC Frigate Graphics

Really?, the briefing I was at said the design phase is a significant time away from moving to the next phase of the project as there are several issues being solved. Certainly not "soon". One is weight as we saw the 32 VLS drop to 24 which is obvious and that was confirmed by LM staff at...

    NEW LM CSC Frigate Graphics

Could be they're not and yes people in the "know", know exactly what's going into the ship. Its amazing that when a person has a lack of information they will make up all kinds of speculative things. You have to see the accommodation areas of the CSC, nice bunks, USB plug ins, WiFi. Sailors will...

    NEW LM CSC Frigate Graphics

People need to not take too much stock in renderings, or possible placeholders. Its not a laser system.

    NEW LM CSC Frigate Graphics

I don't have to substantiate anything, the RCN will at some point choose to post more details but rest assured we now have 24 VLS vice 32 as a weight saving measure. The graphics from LM show this. You yourself said "Any thoughts from forum members", well those are my thoughts.

No I think what I have isn't for public distribution.

    NEW LM CSC Frigate Graphics

I sure do, I have a graphic available with the ship and all the combat systems and where they are located. For instance the 30mm is the Marlin WS.

Navy Leasing Option for Nuclear Subs for Canada

The issue is that the US could very well approve the technology transfer, I assume no one asked. Back in the 80's no official denial on the transfer occurred and politics and attitudes at home came into play.

Navy Leasing Option for Nuclear Subs for Canada

The agreement deals with the transfer of nuclear technology not just us. Its been about 40 years since the Canada class so this may be a better option.

Navy Leasing Option for Nuclear Subs for Canada

While I don't believe Canada will ever purchase nuclear submarines, the offer the UK has made to help Canada in regards to the arctic opens a possibility for a lease for Canada. What I propose is that the UK build a number of Astute Class and partially crew and lease them to Canada. All...

    A Canadian SSN submarine fleet?

Neither do I . Here you go "The Canadian government was surprised this week by the announcement of a new security pact between the United States, Britain and Australia, one that excluded Canada and is aimed at confronting China’s growing military and political influence in the Indo-Pacific...

    A Canadian SSN submarine fleet?

Many groups are upset, France for obvious reasons, the EU, China, North Korea for instance, this alliance many well further destabilize things over there. NZ apparently was consulted, Canada wasn't and they probably wouldn't complain publicly although it really empathizes where we stand with...
