    A Canadian SSN submarine fleet?

As it stands right now this AUKUS alliance has upset a lot of people including members of the five eyes. It is entirely conceivable that this alliance is in jeopardy behind the scenes and very telling that Canada was not even consulted.

    A Canadian SSN submarine fleet?

I don't think so, anything nuclear in submarines or warships will not be politically acceptable to any current or future government. I base that on the history of nuclear procurement attempts in Canada and statements made by the current government. It is highly unlikely that will ever change.

    A Canadian SSN submarine fleet?

Absolutely not. Trudeau has already closed the door on buying nuclear submarines and any successive government will not be able to sell it to the public. There's plenty of good reasons why we were shut out of the pact as well. I highly doubt even if we somehow had a change of public opinion...

A Canadian Hybrid Submarine Design-A Case For The “Small Modular/Micro Reactor (SM/MR)”

You do know nuclear emergency in Canada is federally regulated and it matters not if provinces is looking at it. Any approval needs to still come through the whole nuclear regulatory process. I can see all kinds of problems with approval of installations close to inhabited areas.

A Canadian Hybrid Submarine Design-A Case For The “Small Modular/Micro Reactor (SM/MR)”

You seem to think slapping "hybrid" on it makes it more acceptable, anything nuclear unless you spend a lot of money in regulation and infrastructure has the potential of disaster. Mark my words it will be decades if ever before seeing pocket nuclear reactors powering communities or ever...

    Canadian Shipbuilding-Budgets Can Sink Warships

I don't understand why people are so shocked at the cost overruns and delays. Rarely a warship procurement goes as planned and that's from companies way larger and more experienced than little Irving. We are building arguably the largest and most capable warship by a yard that hasn't built a...

    Canadian Shipbuilding-Budgets Can Sink Warships

I think your wrong. The project is spread out over many years and so is the cost which makes it easier to accept and we need ships. Way harder to pivot and start an additional class. The RCN does not want an additional class of warship not to mention the years it will add to a already long...

    Canadian Shipbuilding-Budgets Can Sink Warships

If we wanted cheaper warships then we would of bought offshore, although that is not always the case. Most countries at least the larger ones have their own domestic warship shipbuilding along the lines of each navies particular wants and needs. The type 26, Australian and Canadian variants are...

A Canadian Hybrid Submarine Design-A Case For The “Small Modular/Micro Reactor (SM/MR)”

Regardless of what they are, they are still nuclear reactors and will be heavily regulated just like any other reactor in Canada. Anything for a submarine or warship will be politically a headache for the federal government and high cost.

Navy Improved Victoria Class as the new submarine for Canada

I agree although we would hard pressed to crew 12 subs, unless the crewing requirements were low due to automation.

Navy Improved Victoria Class as the new submarine for Canada

The design/hull was good, what is being proposed is to update the internals with modern technology. The Victoria's have the potential to be very effective, just not enough of them.

Navy Improved Victoria Class as the new submarine for Canada

So, we know that a Canadian submarine replacement program has stood up or is about to standup. There is lots of speculation of what Canada will eventually choose. While there is much talk about going with a proven design there are also many who have suggested the RCN going with our own modern...

    Canada Navy Canada SSK program

Agree, even motor technology is improving to where the storage capacity of a lithium ion powered submarine will be even more efficient.

    Canada Navy Canada SSK program

Submarines are always going to be a contentious issue in Canada especially the bad press the Victoria class has received over the years. Canada in its procurement will ultimately in my opinion go with a blue water design able to transit the Atlantic and Arctic in a traditional cold war role...

Canadian Arctic Surveillance - Is the MQ-4C Triton Hale UAV The Answer?

No worries I provided verifiable links to everything I stated. My "source" provided me with simply that the coverage degrades over 65 degrees which I provided a online source. I will not provide any other information, only the opinion that drones in the context of what you stated are years away...

Canadian Arctic Surveillance - Is the MQ-4C Triton Hale UAV The Answer?

Hi, it seems you are inferring I am lying or otherwise making this up. Been to the Arctic many times and know exactly the type of communications we have above 65 degrees. Enhanced SATCOM project...

Navy A case for Canadian Hospital Ships

Yes MV is the ship and the actual running of the ship is civilian personnel staffed through federal fleet, the rest is NRU (Naval Replenishment Unit) which are made up of reg/res personnel. Some recommendations from the PBO question the utility of buying the Asterix as its upkeep will increase...

Navy A case for Canadian Hospital Ships

Actually Davie has turned the ship into a tanker conversion which they lease to the RCN for 620M for 5 years and have added 71M to that amount due to underestimating its usage. I want to make it perfectly clear that the RCN do not own Asterix and it hasn't really been used that much due lately...

Canadian Arctic Surveillance - Is the MQ-4C Triton Hale UAV The Answer?

I agree that using drones would a effective way to patrol the Arctic, based out of Iqaluit and other areas but as I said there are coverage gaps. To operate these large drones you need continuous coverage, and not just continuous coverage, you also need the C2 and the bandwidth. Currently there...
