First of all there is no deal that we know of. That is not what I am saying. What I am suggesting is a possible outcome with respect to the way in which the whole UK-Turkey approach has been towards the defence issues. We have not been told by either party about any deal being reached. But the...

Quite likely! They would not have forwarded their offer if they had not have a design in hand already , as we would not have entertained their offer. From what is discussed it looks like they are developing an engine for Tempest project using technologies present in the Pearl engines, like the...

Correct. But if you read the post in its entirety you will understand that the price is the issue here. Not WHO produces the engine. F119 is a 26000lbf/35000lbf (dry/afterburner) stealthy engine. RR needs to produce a similar engine for us.

UK is after the big cake; TFX engine deal and a large order for Typhoons. F119 engine was worth 9.5 million dollars in 2006. With today’s dollar that makes 14.5million dollars. https://www.deagel.com/Propulsion%20Systems/F119/a001720 Rolls Royce, if given the engine project, will probably...

Great news if true! These planes will fill the void that is beginning to open in our air force deterrent. But there are three points that is very important: 1. They really ought to have ECRS-MK2 Aesa hybrid radar fitted. 2. Hopefully we will receive a squadron of upgraded Tranche 1 planes too...

UK has taken on a project to upgrade their Tranche 3 planes’ radars to ECRS MK2 version. This is a game changer radar that uses both GaAs and GaN T/R modules in a hybrid configuration. Quote: Instead, Radar Two uses a completely new open-architecture back end, married to what Leonardo has...

Our Murad radar may be altered to fit. But the radar will need to be integrated not just physically but electronically too to the Typhoon’s systems; not taking in to account possible unforeseen compatibility issues. But as they say; If there is the will, there is a way! Only Aselsan and BAE...

The news that seeped through about the Tranche 1 Typhoon sale, included source codes anyway. But it was discussed here in detail that upgrading Tranche 1 to Tranche 3 and more involved “Major” work on the planes. The best and most economical way to use them would be to upgrade them to Tranche...

When you look at the specifications of the Pakistani MILGEM ”corvettes” , you can’t help wonder why they are still called “corvettes”. The width of the ships have increased by 0.4m. The length of it is 108.2 metres instead of 99 metres. Hence the weight has become 2985 tons instead of 2300 tons...

I agree that these ships are not built for protection of larger platforms. That is the duty of the Type26 (City Class) frigates, which are in fact the natural and logical choice to fit between I-Class and TF-2000. Type 31 (Inspiration Class) being a new ship is actually the replacement of the...

UK offered HMS Monmouth (already decommissioned) and HMS Montrose (Still active) to the Greeks as a gift if they bought 4 Type31 frigates . But they opted for the French ships. So in reality the British have given up on these ships. They are being used as sweeteners to entice customers to buy...

If you read what @GoatsMilk says, he is quoting a situation in the past. The engine was Austrian Rotax licensed by Canada, propeller German, Flir Wescam Canada, fuel pump and bomb rack British, almost all electronic stuff was of foreign origin. The Fuselage and most importantly the software...

Great article. Whoever sets up that list ought to read this forum first before doing the 2023 list. Another very important point is the strength and power that lies in people when defending their homeland. Vietnam and Ukraine are good examples of this.
