It seems they got the footage from this launch... Edit: Looks like a couple of people also found it first, on twitter. Roketsan edits videos a lot, i.e. the speed changes of Sungur and Hisar videos, looks cool though.

You meant 690cm, right? 110+580=690 cm according to your notes. Above this length, it would not be good for VLS. For Mk41 VLS, for reference: Self Defense 530 cm Tactical 680 cm Strike 770 cm

Comparing with Atmaca photos, the missile looks longer than Atmaca. Its diameter is smaller, if Atmaca is like Harpoon, somewhere around 20 and 25 centimeters. Rough calculation points to ~210mm, but considering ESSM is around 250mm, it could be bigger than 210 mm, and close to ESSM. Hisar-RF...

There will be cross pollination between those projects and the space sounding rocket projets. Once it is done, we won't have a problem about missile ranges. Same technique can also be used with smaller missiles (Gökdoğan/Bozdoğan) like Israel does with Spyder (Derby and Python).

It looks like the Atmaca booster, not sure if it's the same but that looks like a start: 1- test the booster technique with Hisar or a similar missile combined with a common booster 2- increase booster size, change diameter and length if required 3- increase missile diameter, add a longer...

It seems MQ-9A Block 5 has a bigger MTOW. And it gives a hint why it was 4763 kg... the limit was structural... not aerodynamics related. https://www.ga-asi.com/ga-asi-introduces-new-design-on-predator-b-mq-9-reaper-landing-gear The old landing gear: (...

MQ-9 empty weight could be 2223 kg based on some af.mil source. 2223 + 1700 = 3923 kg I could not find Akıncı’s empty weight.

Just one thing to add to discussion. I think, like the Aksungur specs, max endurance specs (if nothing else is mentioned) are not based on MTOW. Probably based on clean aircraft for minimum required power with full fuel tanks.

Could be true and common sense but like Aksungur they continue to amaze me with new records. Still I wish a powerful single engine on an Anka like design…

Did they change it? In Akıncı documentary 2000+ litres were visible on one of the screens and it translates to ~1600kg of Jet A1 or equivalent. edit: Can’t find info whether MQ-9A fuel figure contains external fuel tanks or not. Mentions of external fuel direct to improved versions like ER but...

There are so many different numbers for MQ-9 but if you believe this source MQ-9A has 27 hours of endurance and has more internal fuel (1769kg) than Akıncı (24+ hours, ~1600kg) source: https://www.ga-asi.com/remotely-piloted-aircraft/mq-9a The range figure of 1900 km could be mission radius...

Drag reduction and protection of the sensor during take-off and landing must be the main reason as it’s behind the main landing gear. Also during rotation it will be closer to the ground because of the angle. Can it also help with pylon/weapon station issues? Possible… one example system...

Some account in twitter I won’t link (it’s an anti-Turkish propaganda account) says (guessing) it’s a Su-25... plausible... the maneuvers are abrupt for a drone like TB-2 but could well be evasive action for a Su-25.

At the end of the video, TB2 seems to be losing altitude very fast. Regarding previously downed TB2s, absence of evidence is not evidence of absence. The video suggests it had an effect on TB2, if real we should not feel uncomfortable about losing an unmanned aircraft. There is no pilot in it...

=what is seen as left/right wobble of the missile is a longer and slightly curved in 3D space. You quoted me but actually I am saying the same thing, or if it was for further explanation then I agree with that too, happens with MAM-L a lot. Don’t take “zig-zag” literally, I mean slight...

I think with command guidance what the missile did is normal. Many tests of SAMs, especially Russian ones had this kind of zig-zag maneuver. And because the target is far away and missile is fast and slewed to the radar or optical sight, what is seen as left/right wobble of the missile is a...
