First thing is a moving part, probably for APU or auxiliary intake for high AoA manuevers. And this is a prototype, most of these are testing equipment and some temporary solutions from Akıncı platform, final product will be lot different, look at X-35/F-35 or even first prototypes of F-35

Tbh is F-35 is neither excellent or mediocre, it is the definition of jack of all trades, master of none. But ATM, (at least for US and close allies of USA) it has on of the most complex electronic and sensor suite of fighter aircraft
