Instead of developing their own jet powered drones, why won't Baykar and TAI form a consortium to develop one UAV? A jet powered drone is much more ambitious that what TAI and Baykar have done so far. Joining their knowledge and resources would yield a great aircraft.

While I agree, I think they are going for 2 different designs which fill different niches.

It appears as if the Göksungur will be similar to Boeing's Flying Wingman drones. Meanwhile MIUS will be something different... we will have to wait and see, but I'm sure that the two projects will not compete against eachother.

Thing is we only really received details about the Göksungur recently. There's still a lot that we don't know about. We can only speculate for now.

But I'm hoping that one of them is designed for air superiority and the other is designed for air-to-ground missions. That way Turkey can have an unmanned fleet which can do it all.

It will be great but aslo Russia will be so happy since it will study it to take them down easy . Serbia and Russia are brother countries .

Yep, also good to remember that Serbia has latest generation of Panstirs - which I'm sure they will try to develop methods of countering TB2 :)

Its really not worth the trouble or the money to sell it to Serbia. We have to account these statements to the visit of kosovo mod also. Which may be designed to counter our possible sales to them.

Maybe it should be us, who is developing an Early-warning and Counter-measure system for munitions widely used by drones.
We may start with using laser receivers and laser designators in combinations, reading and decoding the IR pulses, to re-create a stronger pulse diverted to to a distance (the ground) from the vehicle, at least to save armored vehicles.
And vice-versa we might go for fire and forget smart munitions which can do Imaging or IIR to guide itself to the target to avoid aforementioned diversion technique.
Or making smaller-stealth drones particularly to do laser targeting, without carrying any other weapon, and using arsenal UAV to fire umtas/kuzgun- like long range munitions.

Would like to see Aksungur Airborne Early Warning and Surveillance Drone (AEW&SD)

"Another mission that could be assumed by those drones is Airborne Early Warning and Surveillance (AEW&S), utilizing an innovative radar array developed as a proof of concept and demonstrated by the 38th Institute of the CETC Group. Such a radar was recently flown for the first time. The JY-300 drone called ‘Tian Shao,’ a 1,300 kg MTOW drone designed to carry 400 kg of payload. Currently, the JY-300 is designed to operate for 15-hour missions, fly at a speed of 200 km/h and altitude of 25,000 ft., from a runway on land. The JY-300 can be configured with several AESA arrays, on both sides of the fuselage and wing leading edges."

Cheap, besides that TB2 is already used for 6 years now. Time to upgrade the drone like western companies do it. Faster and lighter, more capebalities so it will be wanted by other countries.

TB2 is the main UCAV we use.

Its not going to be in same category with Anka or Aksungur. Its a upgraded, beefed up TB2 while still protecting its cost-effectiveness.

I think any major modification may affect its usability adversely or cause additional problems. Unless of course it has to use the TEI made PG115 engine in which case a 30% payload increase should be able to be gleaned which can accommodate bigger munitions. This should be applied without increasing the wingspan and RCS increase should be avoided.

In fact we need tb3 to be even smaller, not bigger.

Indeed if the job is making smaller TB2 (lower radar signature) it makes sense.But trying to make bigger TB2 when Anka just stands there its just stupid.

I am waiting for a 6 rack MAM hard-point designed for the uprated Akinci with 750 hp engines so that it can carry 36 MAMs. It can theoretically wipe out a whole armored battalion🤤

Current UAVs are easy targets by design, they do use large amount of composite material that could absorb radar somewhat but it is not the top factor for its success.

Number one factor why our drones have been so effective is electronic warfare

We use drones integrated together with other systems in the field that is what makes them so effective.

I just looked at the TB2 with the TP100 engine and it can only fly for two ours on the internal fuel

It's actually 3 hours but that doesn't make much of a difference
