According to news on Algerian state television, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas met with President Tebboune as part of his visit to Algeria.

In a press conference after the meeting, Tebboune said, “We have decided to host a comprehensive symposium for Palestinian groups soon.”
Stating that this step was taken after receiving the opinion of Palestinian President Abbas, Tebboune did not provide information on the date of the planned meeting.

Tebboune also stated that Algeria has decided to provide $100 million of support for Palestine, and they have allocated 300 educational scholarships for Palestinian students in Algerian universities.

Regarding the visit, it was reported that Abbas informed Tebboune about “the latest developments regarding the Palestinian issue, the practices of the occupation forces that undermine the chance for peace and a two-state solution.”

Noting that the Palestinian issue was going through unprecedented difficulties during the meeting, Abbas praised Algeria’s supportive stance towards the Palestinian issue and its people in the international arena.

Palestinian President Abbas arrived in Algeria on Sunday evening as part of a three-day official visit to discuss the preparations for the Arab League summit, which is planned to be hosted by Algeria in March 2022.
