Because is supposed there is a embargo, for everything, that's why. If there was no German company, could Turkey export drones? ΝΟ.
Well the answer is yes, there are other E/O manufacturers around the world. It is just Turkmenistan's choice of using German E/O. Some other operators prefer Turkish E/O or sensors (SAR) or They prefer Wescam and even after the embargo the Wescam is still bundled with TB2 in some exports.

The embargo is for Turkish Armed Forces, for the export / re-sale the customer receives their own approval or solutions, or manufacturer (Baykar, assembler for you to understand with ease) brokers the process.

PS. Despite of the embargo by Canada, Baykar remains to be "Regional service granted with MRO rights" for Wescam products.

Intresting.....

Drone warfare with German technology

According to the German television ZDF, without the technology of the German company Hensoldt Optronics, the drone Bayraktar TB 2 of Turkey could not even work.
Aggressive drones use special target detection systems, which are something like the eye of the weapon. One of these systems is manufactured by the South African subsidiary of the German arms company Hensoldt, which is presented as a leading supplier of military reconnaissance systems.
Hensoldt's cooperation with Turkey's Baykar began in 2020, when the Canadian government ended its supply of reconnaissance systems from Canada from L3 Harris Technologies company , following the use of drones in the Karabakh conflict.

If you have any intention of learning, go to Aselsan's EOTS page, https://www.aselsan.com.tr/en/capabilities/electro-optic-systems, and see the products yourself. If you're more curious about the company's EOTS programs here's a few keywords for you;
ASELFLIR F500C
ASELFLIR-600
ASELSAN DASS

Coming to BAYKAR, the company itself doesn't restrict the buyers with ASELSAN's CATS optics. The buyer could himself choose the optics. It could be Wescam, Hensoldt or CATS. Canada's embargo doesn't affect the product because the buyer of TB2 purchases the Wescam and hand it to BAYKAR. And the company then integrates the camera to the drone. You see, it's entirely up to the customer. Kyrgyzstan, for instance, opted for CATS.

So there's no story for you here. You can stop pushing it.

Hensoldt Optronics is a South African company and Hensoldt products are only offered to some export customers. Turkey also offers a homegrown system Aselsan CATS which is in use by Turkey and 5 other export customers.

Lets show the member what Turkey is capable, we are using our own targeting pod in our F16.

Aselpod...

Turkish F16 and Pakistans JF17 are using this pod. How faster Greeks realise what we are capable better it is for ther health. Better to accept it and make peace with yourself.

Anymore don't important. Germans and Canadians can put sanctions on own parallel universe.
Their power is sufficient only for the Bedouins in the bay who have nothing but money.

The embargo is not only for Turkish Armed Forces, but for everything.
Great example is the Altay and the Qatar order(100 units), it stuck because the engine and the transmission, both were Germans.
So why not sell Altay in Qatar with German engines and transmission ?
Because the embargo is solid, it was not bypassed as it was with the so-called South African company, where of course it is a shell company of the German mothership.

Dude, it is up to the customer to decide which electro-optical system the customer will use. Some want it with MX-15D, some want it with Hensoldt Argos II, some want it with Aselsan CATS. Those products perform roughly the same. Price, availability, delivery schedule plays part in decisions. That doesn't mean Germans or Canadians are bypassing their embargoes or Turkish product is dependent on German technology. It is disinformation done by the German TV channel. When there is a success everyone wants to claim a part of it. In the past, the UK did the same by claiming TB2 was British tech because prototypes of TB2 used a bomb rack from a UK company which was replaced by a Turkish bomb rack shortly after prototypes flew.

It is not a shell company, it is a South African company that Hensoldt acquired from Denel. Denel still holds %30 stake in hensoldt optronics.

For comparison, Wescam is owned by L3 Harris, an American company. That doesn't make wescam American.

Cameras produced by Aselsan, are heavier than the imported devices(L3 Harris WESCAM and ARGOS II), so that the payload of small armed drones would be drastically reduced.

Payload has not taken a hit - that is known. (I am not even sure that CATS is significantly heavier than the competition). The only thing that could be affected would be endurance.

It is almost kind of a COTS add on (for customer). Embargo relates to the system as Turkey buys and integrates etc (from the countries that formerly sold them to Turkey).

So now Turkey simply leaves it up to customer...

Literally its same standardised set of data and power jack.

If Germany wants to embargo those countries too, they can do so. That is their decision. It might be easiest if they do their own ITARs then as export negative by default with exceptions you add.

It's about 5kg heavier than WESCAM MX-15. For a drone with 150kg payload capacity that difference is negligible. And Aselsan is upgrading CATS with ASELFLIR-F500C next year. F500C's will be lighter than CATS and will have better IR camera. If you checked the keywords I posted out you would know it. But no. You have a single purpose on this forum and that is to discredit whatever achievement Turkey has. And it works in the opposite way. You lose the little credibility you have left.

CATS weighs 56 kg MX-15D weighs 51.4 kg. The difference is insignificant.

Greeks purposely fail to recon that a flir is a payload.

Payloads can be chosen by the customer, the one wants Wescam, another Hendsold or Aselsan. The payload can even be a SAR radar. It's an important payload but not a direct part of the drone.

And if TB2 is just an assembled drone, than why don't Greeks do the same (too lazy?)

11.5 kg heavier, so my....credibility in terms of the object is much better than you imagine. As for the characterizations, , I just return to them, after all I never respond to people who do not contribute to a discussion.
