Only some Armenian propagandists said it. If you compare weapons and GDP of the countries u could see that Azerbaijan is much stronger:
Azerbaijan - 48 bln $
Armenia - 13.7 bln $
Azerbaijan 3.5 times more.
Now if we check same for Ukraine and Russia:
Russia - 1700 bln $
Ukraine - 153.8 bln $
Russia has 11 times more!
For an oil and gas producing country Azerbaijan’s gdp per capita is very low. They are almost half of Turkish gdp per capita.
Turkey is not a rich country. In fact I would classify Turkey as semi poor and semi developed.
This year Turkey’s GDP is expected to reach 650 billion dollars. That would make our gdp per capita 7700 dollars.
This year Azerbaijani gdp is expected to reach 44 billion dollars. That puts per capita gdp at 4350 dollars.
Armenia’s 2020 gdp expectation is 9.8 billion dollars. That puts their per capita gdp at 3300 dollars. And they ARE poor.
Russia’s GDP for 2020 is expected to be around 1250 billion dollars. So their per capita gdp will be 8600 dollars.
Azerbaijan oil reserves : 7 billion barrels (200 times their usage)
Azerbaijan gas reserves : 35 trillion cubic feet (95 times their usage)
Russian gas reserves : 1650 trillion cubic feet.
Russian oil reserves : 80 billion barrels
Over all Russia has 60 times more than it’s usage of proven reserves.
This just shows that the both Azerbaijani and Russian wealth and resources are not utilised fully and not distributed justly. There is widespread corruption and an elite class is reaping the benefits, not the people.
just to put all in perspective: UK GDP for 2020 to be about 2 trillion dollars. (Nearly 20% drop) and the per capita to be about 30000 dollars.
France GDP to be 2400 trillion dollars and per capita around 36000 dollars.
