Concern voiced over militarisation of space and artificial intelligence by India

THE NEWSPAPER'S STAFF REPORTER
Welcome

ISLAMABAD: Officials on Thursday termed militarisation of space and artificial intelligence by India through western support an emerging threat for Pakistan’s security.
This was the upshot of a discussion hosted by the Islamabad Policy Institute on the occasion of the 23rd anniversary of the 1998 nuclear tests.
The two panelists at the discussion titled ‘Pakistan’s Quest for Peace and Strategic Stability in South Asia’ were Adviser to Strategic Plans Division Ambassador Zamir Akram and Director General Arms Control and Disarmament at the Foreign Office Kamran Akhtar.

The panelists did reiterate their concerns about the “tenuous” strategic stability of the region and India’s aggressive posture, including its plans for disarming pre-emptive strikes against Pakistan’s nuclear arsenal in a conflict, but they specifically emphasised the emerging challenges which, they said, could not be ignored anymore.
Ambassador Akram in his presentation noted that India was working on integrating new warfare technologies — cyberwarfare, artificial intelligence, robotics and lethal autonomous weapons — in its arsenal with the American support.
“Pakistan will have to respond to these developments and cannot remain complacent,” he stressed.
He said the anti-satellite weapon tested by India in March 2019 brought a qualitative change in the threat spectrum because of the danger to the country’s nascent space infrastructure from India.

It is a threat to Pakistan, nonetheless but there is a little western support in these areas.

Any such threat will be neutralized by factor of 10 by looking threat from China from atop the Himalayas. So no need to fret. Such threat will remain frivolous unless India begins to harness Bangladesh - a Indian/Bangla combo is the bigger threat as history has shown.

It is a threat to Pakistan
Honestly the greatest threat India ever posed was when it allied itself with Banglas and combined weight of 20% of earth's population tried to crush Pakistan. Other than Banglas gaining their independence it had no major impact.

A few bedraggled English settlers armed with old rifles alone defeated the British Empire, the Algerians defeated the French, the Vietnamese booted out USA so such a 'miracle' on the Bay of Bengal was no big deal other than affording a victory to a people historically in short supply of that.

well the weapons combat system is what the article talks about.
the problem for pakistan is,in a real warfare scenario when india gets soft kill ASAT it can easily make the sattelites powerless, currently it only has kinetic kill based asat which causes debris.

No problem at all. What you can get from USA Pakistan can and will get from China. Like I said the greatest threat Pakistan ever came was when most of South Asia turned against Pakistan. Those days are long gone.

The only thing Pakistan should and under PM Imran Khan is doing is focus on developing Pakistan instead of India a country which can't even handle coronavirus and is left with Ganga river ecoming chocked with dead bodies.

So for Pakistan it is economy, economy, economy and lasty the Indian variant of coronavirus which could leak into the country via those slum dwellers in Karachi hailing from regions of India which right now are the epicentre of the disease.

Ps. The economy has recovered and is heading toward 4% growth this year.

India isn't getting that from USA but developing itself.
Importing defense equipments what India used to do earlier,if it was the good option we would haven't started creating our own industry.
Pakistan would continue to rely on China for weapons systems which could be blocked, with changing geopolitical situations.

The concern is what it is,being talked about.

So you came to trolling.
Let me know what's the real GDP growth?
Don't get ashamed now.
Even nominal growth india would have >10%
Hypersonic technology would not be given to Pakistan by china as it is critical.
There are few technologies which won't be given to Pakistan as easily, you have develop on your own.
Pakistan has to wait for 10-20 years to mature it then maybe,by the time india would complete deterrence advantage
And for covid 19 cases have come down and you can cry.

4%nominal gdp growth even if Pakistan achieves would be the result of base effect and nothing else.
So you can celebrate it lmao
