Zelensky examined the positions of the military near Crimea
The President visited the military base camp near the village of Chaplinka, talked with the military and doctors.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, during a trip to the Kherson region on Tuesday, April 27, visited the advanced positions of the military on the administrative border with the temporarily occupied Crimea, the press service of the OP reported.

The President inspected the dugout and trenches and spoke briefly with the servicemen.

He also visited the base camp of the Ukrainian military near the village of Chaplinka, where he got acquainted with the conditions for the accommodation of personnel. In the modular town, Zelensky examined the sleeping, sanitary modules and field gym.

In the sanitary unit, the head of state talked with the doctors on duty, learned about the provision of medical equipment.

We are in the Kherson region today. We see our positions, we check the readiness from the point of view of equipment, our soldiers, our brigades. It is very important both on the front line and in the reserve to see the state of our military, the state of our army - technical and psychological. This is important in order to understand: the fact that the troops are leaving does not mean that the army should not be ready for the fact that there may be a return of troops to the borders of our country at any moment, "Zelensky said.

The president also handed over night vision devices and thermal imagers to two military units.

Not far from Mayorskoye, the enemy used anti-tank hand grenade launchers, large-caliber machine guns and small arms.

Also, the enemy fired from heavy anti-tank and automatic heavy grenade launchers near Talakovka, Lugansk, Kamenka and Pavlopol. Near Shyrokyne, the enemy fired from small arms.

"As a result of enemy fire, one serviceman from the United Forces was wounded. The serviceman was promptly provided medical assistance and taken to a hospital. Russia without SP-2 and SWIFT. EP Resolution on Ukraine

1619716362841.png

The European Parliament adopted a resolution against Russia

MEPs adopted a document containing harsh criticism of Moscow due to its recent actions. Some also call for the provision of weapons to Ukraine.

The European Parliament adopted a resolution that, in the event of an armed invasion of the Russian Federation into the territory of Ukraine, provides for its exclusion from the SWIFT payment system, as well as freezing all European assets of oligarchs close to the Russian authorities and their families and stopping the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline. Correspondent.net tells the details.

What price will the RF have to pay

On April 29, members of the European Parliament adopted another resolution on Russia, containing harsh criticism of Moscow. The document was approved by 548 MEPs, 25 voted against, 113 abstained.

The day before, the MEPs discussed the accumulated problems on the Russian topic for almost three hours.

EU High Representative for Foreign Policy Josep Borrell set the tone for the discussion. Opening the debate, he stated that he was pessimistic. He believes that Moscow has chosen the path of even deeper confrontation with the West.

“Unfortunately, we cannot rule out that the negative trend will continue and the deterioration will reach an even more dangerous level,” the head of European diplomacy emphasized and added that “intimidation tactics” will not remain unanswered.

Borrell called the withdrawal of Russian troops good news, but noted that more than 100 thousand soldiers near the borders of Ukraine and in Crimea have greatly "worsened the security situation in the region."

"The aggressive behavior of the Kremlin, sometimes simply terrorist, both in foreign and domestic policy, poses a real threat to the security of the EU and the entire European continent," said Andrius Kubilius, ex-Prime Minister of Lithuania and member of the EP committee on foreign affairs.

According to the Latvian Sandra Kalniete from the largest EP faction of the European People's Party, the events around Ukraine and Navalny should convince the West that "the Kremlin's provocations will not stop."

“That is why we must clearly and unequivocally explain to Russia what a high price it will have to pay for violating the rules established by international law,” she said. Its recipe is to provide Ukraine with an action plan for NATO membership and supply it with defense weapons.

"The path to the end of the war". Why does Ukraine need MAP in NATO

Her fellow German party member Michael Galer is also of the opinion that Ukraine should be provided with defense weapons, although he regrets that things have "gone this far."

As stated in the text of the resolution published on the website of the European Parliament, Russia should be disconnected from the interbank system for transmitting information about SWIFT payments.

It also talks about stopping the construction of the Nord Stream-2 gas pipeline and refusing to import oil and gas from Russia. In addition, they proposed freezing the European assets of oligarchs close to the Russian authorities and canceling their visas.

The complete list of requirements proposed in the draft resolution consists of 17 points. The most radical of them are listed above.

It follows from the document that such measures can be taken in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

However, in general, they are connected with the situation around the Russian opposition leader Alexei Navalny and the diplomatic scandal between Russia and the Czech Republic, which was caused by the statements of Prague about the involvement of the Russian special services in the explosion at an ammunition depot in the village of Vrbetice in 2014.

"The EU must make it clear that the price for such a violation of international law and norms will be severe," the draft resolution says.

Without preconditions, EU countries are offered:

send additional Russian diplomats as a sign of solidarity with the Czech Republic

stop Nord Stream 2 and the construction of "controversial nuclear power plants" by the Russian company Rosatom

impose sanctions on everyone who participated in the persecution of Alexei Navalny

At the same time, the document notes "regret over the current state of relations between the EU and Russia, caused by Moscow's aggression and continuing destabilization in Ukraine, hostile behavior and direct attacks on EU member states."

We are talking about Moscow's accusations of interference in the elections of other countries, disinformation campaigns, cyber attacks and the use of chemical weapons.

The Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly called for disconnecting Russia from the SWIFT system. The last time this was done by Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba was last week.

The Kremlin said that they consider the threat of Russia's disconnection from SWIFT real, since "the actions of Russian opponents are unpredictable."

Nord Stream 2 has been completed by more than 90 percent. According to the latest data, voiced by the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Alexander Novak, the project should be completed in 2021. The project is opposed by Ukraine, the United States and the countries of Eastern Europe.

On April 29, Russian President Vladimir Putin said that "there are many different kinds of political speculations" around the project.

"But I want to emphasize again, this is a purely economic project that has nothing to do with the current political situation," he said.

Putin says the speculation is connected "primarily with attempts at unfair competition" in the European market.

The resolution of the European Parliament, like all others, is advisory in nature. At the same time, some of its points - including proposals to freeze Nord Stream 2 or to impose sanctions against Russian oligarchs - in fact cannot be substantiated by EU legislation.

As Borrell noted, speaking to deputies in the EP, the European Union does not have in its arsenal of tools that would freeze Nord Stream 2 and disconnect Russia from the interbank system for transmitting information about SWIFT payments.

Russian troops still in, around Ukraine: NATO chief

Tens of thousands of Russian troops remain in and around Ukraine, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg said on Thursday.

"We have seen some reduction in the number of Russian troops, but tens of thousands remain, and we are also seeing that Russia has kept a lot of weapons ... and equipment," said Stoltenberg in a doorstep statement ahead of a meeting of the EU defense ministers in Brussels.

The NATO chief said Russia was also imposing restrictions in the Black Sea, including on access to the Sea of Azov through the Kerch Strait, adding that NATO should remain vigilant and closely monitor the developments.

"Overall, there is a significant Russian presence, and there are many more Russian troops now, in and around Ukraine, than before the recent increase in tensions," he added.

Stoltenberg also welcomed the inclusion of the US, Canada, and Norway in the EU's Permanent Structured Cooperation (PESCO) and said: "Non-EU allies play an essential role in protecting and defending Europe."

As part of the NATO exercise Steadfast Defender 2021, NATO is deploying thousands of troops in Romania, he also said, adding that this "demonstrates how we mobilize and exercise NATO troops, and also how we're able to deploy them across Europe."

"And as part of this exercise, there are soldiers from the United Kingdom, from the United States, from Turkey, so it demonstrates also the importance of moving NATO troops quickly through Europe and that's also a reason why military mobility is so important."

100% Russia will launch a military incursion against Ukraine after Putin has "talks" with Biden in Europe

America is a false ally. If there is an area where Russia and US can agree and co-operate on it is to stop all forms of Ukrainian-Turkish economic and military development. I.E Strategic autonomy by both countries poses a threat to their monopoly of the World Order.

The Talks Biden will have with Putin they will decide how much of Ukraine, Russia is allowed to invade. I suspect US will secretly green light a Russian take over of nearly the whole of Ukraine's Black sea coast so that Ukraine cannot export directly to Turkey and vice-versa.

Whenever Russians and Americans have talks somebody else loses. They have done this multiple times to Bosnia, Iraq and other countries.

Since the beginning of May, the Ukrainian military in Donbas have already defused two separatist drones. This is stated in the message of the JFO headquarters on Facebook.

So, on May 3, not far from Novolugansk, fighters shot down an enemy UAV, re-equipped for dumping ammunition and remote mining. It contained Russian-made components.

On May 6, near Granitnoye, a separatist drone was suppressed by electronic warfare and shot down by small arms fire. As it turned out, this Tachyon-type UAV is manufactured by Izhmash LLC - Unmanned Systems of the Russian Federation. It is in service with the ground forces of the Russian Federation.

Since the beginning of the year, the headquarters has confirmed a significant increase in the use of unmanned aerial vehicles by the enemy. The purpose of such actions is to conduct aerial reconnaissance, issuing target designations, adjusting fire, remote mining of the terrain, as well as dropping explosive devices.

Earlier it was reported that the separatists by UAVs mined the road corridor near the Mayorskoye checkpoint. Explosives technicians defused the mine.

Biden will discuss Ukraine with NATO countries
Biden to take part in virtual summit of NATO's eastern flank members

The meeting of the heads of state of the Bucharest Nine is dedicated to security issues. It will fit into negotiations under the Three Seas Initiative.

US President Joe Biden and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg will take part in the Bucharest Nine Summit at the level of heads of state, which will be held in "hybrid mode" on Monday, May 10, in Bucharest. This was stated by the head of the National Security Bureau (BBN) of Poland, Pavel Solokh, according to Ukrinform.

“Polish President Andrzej Duda and Romanian President Klaus Iohannis have sent invitations to both the NATO Secretary General and the US President. They both confirmed their participation, and therefore NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg, US President Joe Biden, and Secretary of State will take part in the meeting this afternoon. USA Anthony Blinken, "Solokh said.

According to him, the meeting of the heads of state of the Nine is devoted primarily to security issues and will fit into negotiations within the framework of the Three Seas initiative.

"These both formats, together with the formation of the positions of the countries of eastern Europe within the EU and NATO, will help build transatlantic contacts," said the head of BBN.

According to Solokh, the joint statement after the summit will mention security in the Black Sea basin and the situation in Ukraine.

"Without a doubt, the Ukrainian issue will somehow be reflected there," Solokh said.

The hybrid nature of the Bucharest Nine summit provides that the presidents of Romania and Poland, as co-organizers of the event, will be in Bucharest in person, and the rest of the leaders will join the summit online.

Eastern European NATO states would like a bigger allied military presence on the bloc's eastern flank, Romanian President Klaus Iohannis said on Monday after a virtual summit that was joined by U.S. President Joe Biden.
The summit of the Bucharest Nine, a group of countries on the eastern edge of NATO, was jointly hosted by Iohannis and Poland's President Andrzej Duda and was aimed at coordinating their security positions ahead of a full NATO summit in June.

"As allies on the Eastern flank, we need to continue consolidating deterrence and defence. We all recently witnessed the worrying military build-up by Russia in our close neighbourhood, in the Black Sea, in and around Ukraine," Iohannis said.
"This is is why I have argued, including in discussions with President Biden, for an increase of allied military presence in Romania and ... the south of the Eastern flank."

Biden, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and the presidents of Bulgaria, the Czech Republic, Estonia, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania and Slovakia joined the video conference.
"President Biden expressed his support for enhancing NATO’s deterrence and defence posture, as well as the importance of Allies increasing their resilience against harmful economic and political actions by our strategic competitors," the White House press office said in a statement.
Biden was also seeking closer cooperation with the nine states on challenges "including global health security, climate change, energy security, and global economic recovery".
Earlier this month, Washington said it could increase security help for Kyiv after Russia moved troops near its border with Ukraine's eastern Donbass region, where Ukrainian troops are in conflict with Moscow-backed separatists. Moscow announced the withdrawal of its forces on April 22. read more

Stoltenberg did not publicly address the call for a bigger presence in eastern Europe, but had said in his opening remarks that Biden's participation demonstrated "the U.S. commitment to rebuilding alliances and strengthening NATO".
