The Milgem project was quasi-officially launched in the mid-1980s amid growing thoughts of having a corvette in the Turkish Navy, following the coming and foreseeable trend of smaller and more effective surface assets capable of carrying more firepower with advanced technology.

The first sketch of Milgem was made by Erbil Serter at the request of the Admiral and abandoned after his retirement in the following years:

1200 tons, 80~metres and 3.5~draught. 8 SSM missiles and 1 Phalanx CIWS, 2 small calibre autocannons (in role of RWS) in addition to VLS which appears to be Sea Captor, note that the ship lacks hull mounted sonar and relies on towed variable depth sonar. TN requirements were similar at the time, a hangar for 6+ ton helicopters, 2 RHIBs.

Another design, also 1200 tonnes, was offered as an alternative, with a sea zenith instead of a phalanx, this project was also offered by TKMS as a MEKO 90.

However, one could sense that the following design was also offered as a more capable Light Frigate Corvette in a different role, the VLS configuration was deliberately exaggerated to show capabilities, and some of these (the aft) were bound to be replaced by CIWS.

In the 90s, the project was revived once in an effort to design an indigenous corvette, some reports that the previous LF design was then proposed again by Erbil Serter, but the project stalled due to economic and political -instabilities- and reasons.

Also, in addition to previous designs, the following one might have been proposed and designed by another team led by Yücel Odabaşı, where one can sense La Fayette inspirations for the low-RCS design:

This particular image shows the radar reflecting parts for RCS analysis.

The newer design had VLS, probably Sea Sparrow, and no CIWS - probably in place of RWS or dual purpose guns. However, this particular design may be a temporary form.

The project was revived for a second or perhaps even third time and a new design was created, probably benefiting from earlier experience. This particular design was more ASW oriented than earlier designs, with the slight difference of switching from Sea-Captor/Sea Sparrow like VLS based point defence systems to the 2 x RAM (Note that the image below is of K130's, as a placeholder as no images are available for this design iteration).

And finally, in the 2000s, the design evolved into the Ada-class corvette and was built as is, and 1x RAM was found to be efficient for the ship's roles.

I like the 6th one, very similar to a K130

In earlier designs, the Ada class had a slender mast and V-shaped bow, later replaced by a blunt mast to support the EW suite, and a bulbous bow was added to increase speed and hydrodynamic efficiency.

Above you can find our evolution...
Don't take the images serious. Turkish Navy don't tend anything related with those .
