China and Russia to Produce CR929 Aircraft Without Contribution of Western Countries

The CR929 aircraft forms the joint aviation response of China and Russia against the Airbus A350 or Boeing 787 models. While the current sanctions against Russia have created some problems, the partners that produce the aircraft have redefined the process of producing and launching the aircraft without parts and components that could come from the West.

At the time of departure, the Chinese state group Comac and Russia's United Aircraft Corporation wanted to have their joint long-range jet CR929 ready for flight in 2021. However, in recent years, this period has been prolonged; Now the Western embargo on Russia has extended the delay. Therefore, the model is currently being redesigned and completed without any contribution from Western countries. For this reason, the first regular flight start date of the CR929 prototype will be postponed.

This plane was supposed to be delivered in 2021, but it's reported multiple delays incurred from the Russian team, now because of the Ukraine war, Russia is being sanctioned by the west, some works undertaken by the Russian team are affected, hence this whole project will be delayed.
China should think about having an alternative program which is 100% domestic, free from adverse impact from outside factors.

It's not the first time the west tries to kill Chinese domestic high tech programs, Chinese domestic jetliner C919 had long passed all the required tests after its first flight 5 years ago , in order to get airworthiness certificate from the west without too much trouble, China made big compromise to include many western manufactureres into the plane's manufacturing supplier list, but Europe and the US still refuse to sign the airworthiness certificate for the plane.

The C919 totally relies onto Western technology and it's system suppliers.

To develop and manufacture a Chinese Airbus A350 or Boeing 787 model competitor - solely relying onto Russian and Chinese components will be ridiculously expensive to produce and will take IMO at minimum another 10 years to become reality.

But no-doubt China will go for it. Taking into account that in e.g. 50 years they aim to replace the world market to 50% and more with Made in China passenger aircraft. Unfortunately I won't be around by then anymore to see if this is really happening.

Sorry, but if you believe that there is a "healthy competition" then you are in total defiance/denial of facts.

There is absolutely no healthy or fair competition in China regarding manufacturing or transfer of technology.
But it is the greed, shortsightedness and stupidity of Western CEO's (share value etc.) having ignored that situation in China far too long.
As such I am not blaming China of having taken advantage of this at all - it's a damn smart move actually - But don't tell me it's a healthy competition.
Except on behalf of China's interests ;)
