The French opposition is incapable of putting up a candidate who could challenge him.

To be honest I voted for Macron. Despite what we are saying he's among the most capable presidents we had over the previous ones and there's no credible opposition, all others are just clowns or non credible.

Macron has his demerits as well
He believes that the EU should have an independent foreign policy from the other non-EU western countries which is literally dividing the West into groups of interest just like with the Arabs rn

It is even more ironic since China supports such endeavours of Macron; and it isnt a no-brainer that China want to see the Western hegemony collapse

Do you think he will win another term?

Well, we're basically stating the same fact but I wouldn't go easy on Macron. I'd vote for Le Pen in the first round and for Macron in the runoff.

Unless surprise the runoff will be between Macron and Le Pen and Macron will win but by a smaller margin than in 2017. Unless surprise and low turnout Marine might win.

Of course he did mistakes on many subjects but compared to likes of Sarkozy Hollande...

Macron had a rough relationship with Turkey during his presidency but to be honest from the Turkish point of view and for the sake of Europe and Ukraine... he is the much lesser evil than Le Pen and other far- right Putinist puppets.

I feel like the Russian invasion can be a chance for Turkey and France (also EU) to somewhat repair their relations a bit.

Two important takeaways from this election:

■ 1/3 of the French electorate is openly fascist/racist which is an incredibly high percentage if we compare France to other Western democracies.

■ The French society has become much more radicalized in general and traditional parties has become obsolete which, again, is a rather unique development among Western European countries.

Don’t like Macron but he is a hundred times better than Le Pen.
Le Pen winning would do to France what Trump winning did to the US.

At the political extremes, they start to resemble each other on far-left and far-right....give me the power, trust no one else, extreme identity politics etc.

It is more a horseshoe than a linear line. (Though IMO, its more complicated than even that, but still that is illustrative enough its not a straight line).

This is why you see many communists and fascists (and both of their mouthbreathing lackeys/useful idiots) both giving support to Putin + Russia right now....as much as they go through the predictable motions that they are so different in whatever way.
