Honestly Australia's military was so focused on fighting the war on terror that we forgot to adapt to a changing world.

Also being dependant on the usa is not good news. Not to mention for decades we did not put military spending up either cut it or kept it the same for years.

Until now we realised that world has changed and you know we now have China at our doorstep.

Then again for us people in Australia only shit they distracted us with was Gay marriage how it was the biggest issue in Australia. Screw geopolitics am I right.
