Georgian Defence Minister Juansher Burchuladze met with Alexander Vinnikov, the newly-appointed Head of NATO Liaison Office in Georgia, on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the officials discussed NATO-Georgia relations, as well as the regional security challenges amid the war in Ukraine.
The sides highlighted the importance of strengthening cooperation and modernising Georgia’s defence forces, the Ministry of Defence noted.
Vinnikov was appointed the Head of NATO Liaison Office in 2022, replacing Rosaria Puglisi in the position.
NATO Liaison Office Georgia represents the alliance in the country by facilitating political and military dialogue and practical cooperation under the NATO-Georgia Commission, in support of the country’s membership aspirations.
The Office also serves to enhance civil and military cooperation between the alliance and the Government of Georgia in support of the Euro-Atlantic integration goals described in the Annual National Plan (ANP).
