Greek Defense Minister Panagiotopoulos: “Thanks to the defense and security policies we follow, the balance of military power between Greece and Turkey has started to change in favor of the Greek side for the first time in a long time.”

What do we think about this claim? Is the balance of power really changing in favor of the Greek side as the Defense Minister said ? Or is this sentence reflection of a dream that Greece on the eve of the election is trying to convince its people so as not to seem helpless?

What exactly are the defence "policies" he is taking about? Is he talking about the Rafale jets? Then that alone is useless since Turkey and Greece are so close that a decently built AD systems with proper electronic warfare will aid in rendering them obsolete

The balance changes to Greeks side only because USA and France basically act as the nanies of Olive Oil state. In reality if they are alone in 3 4 years ex Romanian Kara Vlahs would have become totally insignificant.
In " theoretical " fight against Ex Romanians and ex Anatolians , Turkey would be faced with the open aggression of " the allies".

It is simply the way holding the Tail up.
All of the Greece is Türkiye's ballistic missile range. With the production of cenk most of its allies will be in range.
Long live roketsan.

On the one hand, while it supports national production and power with everything, it has complex structures that can at least cope with new technologies and gigantic superpowers, on the other hand, raffaele and sunken economy with interest and repayments based on years.

Guys I think my chances with Ana de Armas are finally going up in really long time.

Delusional yapping from a country whose armed forces has zero operational experience. When did its Air Force conduct strikes in an hostile country in hostile airspace? When did its Naval Forces conduct large scale amphibious assault? Can its Naval Forces conduct in patrols in the E.Med without having its ships break down and have to be towed back into port? When did its Land Forces conduct large scale assaults or operations? Have they even ever conducted COIN ops?

Buying 12 second hand Rafales, and 3 overpriced frigates which aren't designed for the tasks they intend to use them in doesnt change anything.

Many parts of the greek armed forces are obsolete. They have zero idea what real fighting is like. They are hedging their bets on armed forces of other countries sending them soldiers to form a "holy alliance" and fight of the barbaric muslims/turks. In reality many will die alone in the dark as missiles bombard their cities, bases, ports and air bases.

I would advise them to keep their provocations to words alone.

We see many countries buy even higher quality equipment in even higher numbers than greece, guess what many of them can't even drive off a couple hundreds meth heads in sandals.

Despite all the claims that the balance of power has shifted in favour of Greece, it is actually the opposite the balance of power has shifted in favour of Turkey. Before Turkey didn't have enough Air to Air missiles to match Greece not to mention turkey didn't have any proper Air defence infrastructure, and Turkey's air force was spread fin to protect Turkey against the Greek air force.

Now Turkey has the Hisar air defence system to protect its air space and help the air force in area denial. Turkey's growing drone fleet not only gives Turkey a way to neutralize the Greek air defence but also allows the Turkish Air force a way to delegate their previous duties to the drones while consolidating their forces for contested air space. the development of indigence missiles has finally given turkey the ability to match the Greeks in a tit-for-tat scenario.

This statement shouldn't be taken very seriously. It's not aimed at us Turks.

Lately, the announcement of many Turkish military projects attracted a strong and persistent criticism of the government, its organizations and the military on the other side of the Aegean shore. The Greek media is watching us very closely. Many are troubled by the pace of development in the Turkish defense industry. Quite a few even claim that any qualitative edge gained by Greece fairly recently (read: the famous Rafale Jets + Meteor missile aka "the Greek magic bullet") has already been nullified or even surpassed by Turkey's latest revelations.

A lot of Greeks suffer from this very uncomfortable feeling of being not able to catch up with us no matter how much money they spend on the military, which is why Greek politicians are going to release a lot more similiar statements in the coming months.

See, the government in Athens sends out these messages to calm their own public while avoiding domestic criticisim, after all, it's election year in Greece.

Don't pay attention to these statements, they are for internal consumption...the same tactics that erdogan has implemented! "we will suddenly come one night" type of statements...

No Turks are taking these statements seriously, they just find them insanely hilarious. But its not the same of erdogans statements, the Turkish military has engaged in syria, its never come suddenly one night but its came multiple times and even in the east of syria when both Russia and the USA threatened Turkey not to.

But greeks have never produced anything and continue to regress concerning the defence industry, in which it simply doesnt exist for the greeks. So these statements are outlandishly hilarious.

I suspect this is more for domestic consumption rather than a factual statement considering there's been a fair amount of discontent in the Greek social sphere regarding Turkey's advancements in the military industry while Greece appears to be playing catch up. And while I haven't been paying much attention to the Greek economy, apparently their mad buying spree has royally screwed them.

Still, worth taking seriously for Turkey. You will never be caught with your pants down assuming that your potential opposition is a mighty juggernaut.

Indeed, you can't compare the two sides. Turkey has x8 times our population and a significant defence industry, but sorry I don't care about your missions in Syria...I am just stating your president's statements about Greece, we find it hilarious too!
