F-16C Block 50

Tomorrow afternoon, the Competent Committee of the Parliament passes the program for the modernization of the Greek F-16C / D Block 50 fighters of the PA . We remind you that the program was introduced for discussion in the last Committee of the summer, in order to postpone its discussion, at the initiative of the Minister of Foreign Affairs, in order to have ABSOLUTE transparency and clear answers to the questions of the Opposition MPs.

But as the program is considered crucial for the PA , and will deliver 38 state-of-the-art F-16C / D Block 50 + Advanced fighters, necessary to maintain the air superiority that the PA is preparing to enjoy for the next 20 years at least. These fighters will obviously carry Link 16, so they will operate under the new network-centric business model introduced by the PA, along with the 84 F-16V and 24 Rafale F3R / F4.

Along with this program, which is expected to be voted tomorrow without problems, the competent committee comes in a "package" and a number of other programs related to F-16C / D and F-16V, including the supply of a large number of SNIPER systems ATP. Thus, the fleet of Greek F-16C / D / V will acquire a modern aiming fuselage, necessary for the use of smart weapons.
The F-16C / D Block 50 + Adv upgrade program is another step in the unprecedented strengthening of the PA. To be fair, the modernization started with the 2018 decision to modernize the F-16V. The decision to modernize the Block 50 is the natural continuation of this program, and a non-implementation of it would be a blow to the PA fleet, as well as a "throw" of several million euros of investment in F-16s (because in addition to the Block 50, which would be devalued, we would "lose" the quorums of 84 F-16C / D Block 52 + / 52 + Adv).
