Morocco requested Israel’s mediation to secure the most wanted US fighter planes, said Israeli newspaper Jafaj.
Based on Israeli military reports, during Israel’s defense minister Gantz visit to Rabat, Moroccan army asked for Israel meditation to convince its historical ally, Washington, to sell the advanced American stealth plane “F-35 to Rabat.
The F-35 attack fighters are equipped with a package of technological devices that make them more powerful than any combat aircraft throughout history, with a maximum speed of 1930 kilometers per hour, which is faster than sound, allowing it to avoid detection by military radars.
The Israeli newspaper Mako, said Morocco’s urge to buy the advanced airplanes came amid escalating political tension the “Polisario” Front, fearing hostile acts from its eastern neighbor, Algeria.
Meanwhile, Algeria is eying the Russian fighters “Sukhoi-57.” Previous data of the Russian Defense Ministry indicated that the Russian Air Force had ordered the manufacture of 76 Sukhoi-57 aircraft by 2028. Turkey, China, and India are also interested in adding these fighters to their air forces.
Following normalizing ties with Tel Aviv last year, Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz signed a defense memorandum with his counterpart Abdellatif Loudiyi, Delegate Minister in charge of the National Defense Administration, during his two-day visit to Rabat in November.
Israeli Aerospace Industries (IAI) received USD 22 million this year in a deal with Morocco for unmanned ‘suicide drones’, according to the Israeli newspaper Haaretz.
As foreign reports said Israel would sell Harop loitering munitions, known as kamikaze drones, to Morocco.
Morocco has also purchased the SKYLOCK anti-drone system manufactured by Skylock Systems, part of the Israeli Avnon Group, according to Globes, Israel’s preeminent financial newspaper.
Eran Lerman, the vice president of the Jerusalem Institute for Strategy and Security, said that Israel discuses holding joint military exercises with Morocco and the Gulf countries who joined the “normalizing club”, adding, in a recent article published in the “Israel Hayom” newspaper, that the visit of the Israeli Defense Minister to Morocco will lead to bilateral war agreements.
The Moroccan-Israeli military collaboration is expected to extend to the construction of a military base near Melilla, according to EL ESPAÑOL.
