Long overdue, fingers crossed 🤞

44,000 crore ~ 5.2 billion USD

Have forgot the number of times this project was accorded AoN, RFI, RFP and then rehashed. Last Koreans were very close to winning if I was correct but refused to share significant ToT I think. To think India has 0 minesweepers now is criminal negligence.

INS Nistar, India's first indigenously designed Diving Support Vessel, was delivered by Hindustan Shipyard to the Indian Navy on July 8. It’s a highly specialised platform for deep-sea rescue and saturation diving, capable of operating up to 300 meters and supporting remotely operated vehicles up to 1000 meters.

Serving as the mother ship for submarine rescue missions, Nistar boosts India’s maritime emergency response capabilities. Built with nearly 75% indigenous content, it reflects the Navy’s push for self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

A second vessel, INS Nipun, will follow, reinforcing India’s position among elite navies with advanced underwater recovery infrastructure.
