The 5.7 pistol releases are rampant and there are now 5 makers of this caliber pistols in the world. And the Tisaş rep says that they believe this is the future. I hear that the 5.7 round case is straight like the Parabellum and not conical like the Luger. This makes the round hard to make as it does not have a widening angle to pull the case from its mold tool when producing and requires lubricants to be employed to do so. This additional step makes the round more expensive. There is a hope that if the case is made out of polymer instead of brass lubricant application will not be required as plastics can be made to include lubricant in them. Polymer casing will change the case characteristics a bit but we don't know in which way. If this happens 5.7 adoption will soar especially among law enforcement and military as this round in like a miniaturized 5.56 round which can pierce soft body armor. I hear that Mexican drug dealers are paying a multifold premium price to get this caliber pistol because of its armor piercing capabilities. I believe Turkish ammo maker will jump into the game once there is a good solution to cost problem, until than we rely on imported ammo and if it gets cheaper abroad we should surely benefit from that too.As a Trabzonlu it makes me proud....but what about the ammo, i mean have we a plan to produce them here?
EDGE's current policy is to copy any design that is battle proven....period!
This is fairly basic tech, many firearm firms will give local production of guns if it means they can win big contracts.I think I mentioned earlier when news came out that Turkey was entertaining the notion of tech-transfer agreements with Gulf nations that this is exactly what I expected to happen.
I honestly believe that Turkey didnt share such tech since companies like Kale and Canik cant afford new competition with another Arms industry; just the US-based ones is enough of a challengeI think I mentioned earlier when news came out that Turkey was entertaining the notion of tech-transfer agreements with Gulf nations that this is exactly what I expected to happen.
For a carry friendly compact modern pistol I recommend the Canik Mete SF with two tone coloring. However while it is being sold overseas I don't see it on the MKE website. For a full size duty pistol Canik Mete SFT is a no brainer. For a concealed carry pistol again Canik MC9 is all the rage now. All 9mm of course.
