In UAE Kale just presented light machine guns in 7.62(6.8 kg) and 5.56(5.7 kg) mm calibers.
These might be the lightest machine guns currently in production.

Turkish companies are really stepping up the light machine guns production. After Kale and System Defence another company called MERTSAV also started producing 5.56 mm light machine gun.

Tisaş makes the first Turkish made 5.7 caliber pistol. This is the fifth 5.7 pistol model in the world. Expected to come out in June or July. 5.7 is meant to replace the 9mm and is introduced as a NATO project. It features lower recoil, faster speed, longer range and larger magazine capacity. Designed to be a pistol that punches like a rifle. The caveat is its ammo is still hard to find. Note: it is also meant to be soft body amour piercing with special black tip bullets.

Edit: It features 30% less recoil than 9mm (124 grain I guess).

The 5.7 pistol releases are rampant and there are now 5 makers of this caliber pistols in the world. And the Tisaş rep says that they believe this is the future. I hear that the 5.7 round case is straight like the Parabellum and not conical like the Luger. This makes the round hard to make as it does not have a widening angle to pull the case from its mold tool when producing and requires lubricants to be employed to do so. This additional step makes the round more expensive. There is a hope that if the case is made out of polymer instead of brass lubricant application will not be required as plastics can be made to include lubricant in them. Polymer casing will change the case characteristics a bit but we don't know in which way. If this happens 5.7 adoption will soar especially among law enforcement and military as this round in like a miniaturized 5.56 round which can pierce soft body armor. I hear that Mexican drug dealers are paying a multifold premium price to get this caliber pistol because of its armor piercing capabilities. I believe Turkish ammo maker will jump into the game once there is a good solution to cost problem, until than we rely on imported ammo and if it gets cheaper abroad we should surely benefit from that too.

First video of MMT in action.MKE project started in 2009 which should have provided Turkish Army with PKM replacement in 7.62x51mm.
Judging by MKEK's speed and pace I assume we could see it in serial production around 2030 and delivered to TSK somewhere in 2050.

EDGE's current policy is to copy any design that is battle proven....period!
This will reduce the time taken on R&D, Personnel on design, and qualifications on whether it can work/shoot/fly since the design has been proven by another state/company

EDGE's Reach S drone is an exact copy of Baykar's TB2
EDGE's Jeniah drone feels extremely similar to Boeing's loyal wingan
EDGE's Caracal light machine gun is a 100% design copy Kale's KMG556
EDGE's recent suicide drones feels like an exact copy to Iranian's Shaheed drones

It isnt wrong to follow such a policy but the question here comes in the quality of the product; no matter how good of a copycat you are, you cant surpass the original. I believe the Chinese have taught us that really well

Nonetheless, for a nation with no notable defemce industry, EDGE's policy is probably what the UAE needs rn to create a "name" to itself

I think I mentioned earlier when news came out that Turkey was entertaining the notion of tech-transfer agreements with Gulf nations that this is exactly what I expected to happen.

This is fairly basic tech, many firearm firms will give local production of guns if it means they can win big contracts.

The Kale platform is more or less based off the FN Minimi/M249 in the first place.

I honestly believe that Turkey didnt share such tech since companies like Kale and Canik cant afford new competition with another Arms industry; just the US-based ones is enough of a challenge

I think as i said in my previous post, nut EDGE in order to cut time has been copying designs of notable defence companies and pasting it as their own in order to cut time, money, and need for specialised personel that UAE doesnt have. I mean you cant find top-class aerodynamic engineers or gun designers as if it is some sort of candy

For a carry friendly compact modern pistol I recommend the Canik Mete SF with two tone coloring. However while it is being sold overseas I don't see it on the MKE website. For a full size duty pistol Canik Mete SFT is a no brainer. For a concealed carry pistol again Canik MC9 is all the rage now. All 9mm of course.
