A Memorandum was signed with the Republic of Indonesia on concluding a contract for the supply of a complex of anti-ship cruise missiles RK-360MC "Neptune" manufactured by KB "Luch".

Thus, Indonesia may become the first foreign buyer of "Neptune" , according to Defense Express with reference to the Ukrainian special exporter State Enterprise (SE) "Progress".

The Neptune uses the newest cruise missile P-360, and its range is up to 300 km, designed to destroy enemy ships with a displacement of up to 5000 tons. The systems were developed on the basis of the Soviet Kh-35 missile (photo : Made in Ukraine)

It is reported that after lengthy negotiations, the company managed to convince the Indonesian side of the benefits of a number of Ukrainian models of weapons. In addition to the agreements on Neptune, Progress also provided for the supply of other Ukrainian products - radars and aircraft missiles - in the near future.

According to company representatives, the Indonesian military praised the 90K6E radar from Iskra. This mobile 3D round-the-clock radar with a transistor transmitter is designed to detect targets flying at low, medium and high altitudes.

Finally, Indonesia was also interested in R-27 aircraft missiles produced by Artem State Joint-Stock Company. It will be recalled that the Indonesian military is already familiar with these products. But, so to speak, in fairly small amounts - according to official reports of the State Export Control Service of Ukraine, from 2010 to 2018, Indonesia received from us five such missiles.

It will be recalled that on December 23, the Cabinet of Ministers unblocked the execution of the state defense order , allowing settlements for the purchase of weapons (which he himself banned), which will allow the start of production of Neptune anti-ship systems for the Armed Forces.

The same with previous memorandum with PT Pindad over deal for Medium Tank and 8X8 IFV, in which soon conclude with actual contract

Where do you guys think these things will be deployed if we decide to procure them?

While we're at it, how many missiles do you guys think we'll even buy?

We need more than 1 battery, I think the most pressing are.
  • 1 battery in the Natuna
  • 1 battery in the Melacca strait
  • 1 battery in the Sunda strait

Agreed. Although, I personally think that we need more than one in the Natuna Islands.

You definitely need more and mobile systems, and scattered observation -surveillance points and launcher sites.
Straits can be protected by advanced mines, it is more crucial to block intrusions into Indonesian waters if clashes goes to large scale. Better to have additional sites in Sulawesi, Kalimantan, Sumatra.

right , having a 200km+ range missile without decent OTHT platform , is like having a long range precision rifle equipped with iron sight only .
It'll be Yakhont problem all over again.
