This is different than Merah Putih with Turkish subsystems and will be a Turkish designed ship, correct? Interesting.

Yes, personally I hope it's destroyer instead of frigate
TBH, I would expect Indonesia to initially go with Turkish OPVs and Italian destroyers, and this is uncharted waters now.

TF-2000 is a great prospect, but the design itself is not finalized yet. First hull is not yet in production and suffice to say it will take at least 3-4 years for the first ship to become a product. I'm not sure if they are thinking about exports at this stage, would be a big surprise. Asfat's AS3600 could be one other prospect i think.

@Anmdt, what do you think?

Last time I checked, the Turkish Navy was not open to cooperation on the first batch of TF-2000s, and they are focusing on a design that will primarily serve their needs. In the later blocks, after SSB and any other company signs a contract with the Navy and gets design rights, they can get it modified for the customer as per a cooperating dictates.

So there won't be a "jointly designed/manufactured" TF-2000.

ASFAT's AS3600 is also not on the agenda of ASFAT anymore. ASFAT is focusing into another field currently.

Moreover, the new sources state that the ship will be brought in 1-2 years, indicating a production in Turkey (correct me if I am wrong here @Umigami). If it is referring to the start of construction within 1-2 years and the availability of the design so far, then it is possible that it is a TAIS design.

We shall also note that TAIS has made deals with Indonesia, many seem to miss it but it involves several patrol vessels and missile boats that could be misinterpreted by the newsmaker - as in military ship to frigate to assume.

alright, he mentioned it, difinitely something happening in the background :ROFLMAO:
Where did he get the number of three suppliers as the maximum for diversification?

On the other hand, he does have a point — if most of our upcoming armament and weapon systems will come from Turkiye to the point that they become the prominent source, that is. However, after interviewing several Turkish defence officials I've met over the past few years, I've gained the impression that Turkiye is fully committed to offering collaboration in the SEA region, especially to Indonesia and Malaysia — something I haven't observed to the same extent with most Western European nations.

As a relatively new player on international market they need to offer more.

Mumpung masa promo, bisa dipertimbangkan untuk diambil. Apalagi kalau ada ote ote nya.

Is there a possibility that the Turkish Istanbul-class ships currently being built could be transferred to Indonesia, similar to the PPA case?
