I dont know why our goverment never eye an newly designed armament with state of the art tech. Its could benefit us more tho.
They only need to set what is actually needed, and receive offers according to those needs.
Everything should be weighted (AIP, conventional battery, high density Li-Ion batters), whichever fits best to Indonesia (VLS on sub, or AShM capable tubes) should be decided with thorough analysis (Range, common operation depth, signature) instead of expecting solution offers bundled by foreigners.

If there is any chance to transfer for both Harpers and Whidbey ,it shouldn't be missed. Both are well armed with 2x Phalanx, 2x RAM compared to Indonesia's under armed LPD's ,might give some insight for training and new LPDs or some parts can be scrapped in future and transferred to newly build, or already in service LPDs.

It may not be compatible with some ports because of the draft to load or unload and such, but it has got 18 (12 when decommissioned) more years of service and still in good condition, not heavily used.

People may wonder why these are being retired earlier than planned, probably USN wants to switch to LX(R) class, US had a long term plan from 80s to combine ship classes under the same hulls and common equipment to lower maintenance cost.
I prefer the youngest one tbh.
but isn't it standard practice for the US to remove the missile before they transfer the ships to foreign navies??

4000 tons for a submarine is very heavy. And yet another pro contra of heavy submarine being use in Indonesian Archipelago.

As type 216 it said to be 80 days of endurance are more than 4 weeks submerged, plus got a vertical launch system.

I dont know why our goverment never eye an newly designed armament with state of the art tech. Its could benefit us more tho.

Litteraly i dont know exactly what is that our goverment want to achieve, a quantity in "alutsista" or quallity ? Every procurement never touch either of them.
Different operational requirement. TNI-AL has no need to go expeditionary with submarine (yet). Furthermore, Indonesia internal seas is basically a cluster of choke point both deep & shallow depth. Meaning a submarine only need to lurking around for an ambush opportunity rather than going into active hunting

It depends on sensitivity of the equipment, something might be removed but if they don't intend to recycle the CIWS (Phalanx and RAM) would remain. It doesn't need to be transferred too, Indonesia can push for a deal to purchase these ships so it will ensure some parts will remain on.

that missile-showroom cruiser make me scary AF, even thoose fleet could sunk all of our flottila 🙀🙀🙀

Not that impressed enough though, afterall modern warships with VLS is rules the day nowadays. They can be used to carry anything from AShM, Anti balistic Missiles, Cruise Missiles or quad packed AA Missiles. And for God knows those Russian ships getting modernized for ECM and AEW warfare or not.

IMHO, if its just one way trip tu support our Peacekeeping force at africa. Tarakan still capable for one way trip. Furthermore about building Large combatan frigates, i think PAL still occupied and didnt have such capability right now, refering to PKR works that only have share for joining parts i didnt think about fully produce large combatant soon enough.

What i've read before the stell that form the hull of frigate and or LHD such as KRI Semarang are diffetent type.
And we lacking such metalurgy knowledge to forge such metal steel.

CMMIW tho,
Well after all, in conjunction if you build Iver with less armament than original, its only become another braden - wurtenberg class, much tonnage and sensor, but less "sangar" 🤣🤣

Well, even if we could build 64 vls frigate, all of its fang will be france made not americano.

Continues and persistent operation at sea. They are tremendous assets though

KRI Tarakan is only 2400 tons with 5.500 m3 fuel capacity.

You'll need at least 4 of them to accompany a fleet to trip around the globe.

Lets we see, Supply Class from AU, its 18.000 + tons, for Oiler Tanker only, same tonnage as 2 piece of KRI Semarang.

Yes, we need huge vessel. But IMHO. Since our operational route and focus is only to defend and interconnected between Fleet in archipelago. I thing small to medium tonnage vessel is ok (for now)

not yet to push to be Blue Water navy, yet Mr. Jinping likely still try tu push towards natuna in upcoming years.

Hope our administration get better in every aspect.

And what's wrong with using WW2 era gun? A gun is a gun is a gun no matter how old the design! What really matter is whether you can hit your intended target with it (bullet placement). In actual practice it's always "The men behind the gun" that count not the gun itself.
I mean, depending on whether or not the barrel is warped you're better off finding something newer.

lol because the acquisition program more often than not was centered around the budget, not requirements.

Hmm... You probably right.

If that an FN BAR D model, that should go to museum, due to its rarity. Otherwise if its work just let it to service.

Fun Fact tho, M240 are design back to BAR model operating system. Although in comparison M2HB is still pushed to service nowadays with or without enhancement since its firs produced.

Whats the worry is that standard issue firearms to regular infantry are prone to breakdown. Especually that SS1 rifle.

Still, a question hanging in my head. Is secondary gun such as pistol isnt standart issue to a regular infantry, when i saw every soldier in armed gear(some in live fire training), they rarely bring pistol, even knive as well. They only carry standard rifle, without spare magazine.

That the problem i see from then.
Also the cause of Nagapasa Class trouble, i even think they didnt capable as german made U 209 1400.

Regarding to its capability, that stuff probably still going in 500 m crash dive below sea level, but who knows about the sonar and sensor capabilitity.

That is so true, but thanks to China our Govt is now trying to balance it.
Those tubes and the warship size is intimidating allright
about subs price, i have the "harga kasar" for it,
*note this is only rough price or prediction price for each, View attachment 8655
Uh oh that 212A is one of my favourite, and dang she is expensive
209 is the cheapest, and holly cow that 218/216 price is definetly for Sultan only.

There is no point of carrying a pistol when you're already lugging around an assault rifle. Its just adding too much weight & complexity. Spare magazines + ammo on the other hand..... While for knife, I believe Aitor Commando is great, I personally prefer it than the previous Aitor Jungle King

It seem Klewang 2 will be launched soon
will it go in flame again ? And yet the specification also yet disclose.

Will it goes for RBS and Sea girrafe radar or something else ? Seems its going to be in a little secrecy and also in queue with Antasena Tank boat.

I think the commado version of Aitor jungleking got rubber fingergrip pattern handgrip. Rather than round metal grip.

But hey, if pistol is to heavy does is that mean body armor for Marinir isnt suited for amphibious assault ? Since its veri rare to see marine with complete gear doing amphibious landing execise.

MoD and users need to do better communicating. Imo this can create a confusion, like MoD said "user can only give spec tech only, Kemenhan will decide what to buy" but I dont see anything wrong in suggesting what user wants with all the reasons to be considered by kemenhan.

It would be nice to see Kemenhan talking about the purchase plan with KASAL then having the Ambassador coming to get support from KASAL.😩

Bicara soal kecepatan maksimum mencapai tiga puluh lima knot.
Now we are talking! 35 knots is fast! This can be said as true KCR (y)
Above all it is made by Private shipyard along with our future tank boat. Our SOE really need a competitor and our private sector need to have a chance to involve in def industry. Rock on!! 💪

I'm more worry about its seaworthiness. Multihull (either catamaran or Trimaran) have inherited structural complication during high sea state During calm sea multihull is great, they are fast, and very stable but in rough weather that multihull construction is serious safety liability. Anyone who said trimaran is safe or rated for this or that ought to cruising onboard along with whoever certifying the vessel into a foul weather (just the typical stormy weather around Banda Sea, Molucca Sea) if they come back alive and in one piece than we can be sure the vessel is safe, if they don't or only partially return then we will all know how safe the boat is.

I think the commado version of Aitor jungleking got rubber fingergrip pattern handgrip. Rather than round metal grip.
yeach that the weirdest. I personally prefer the old tubular handle, but the blade size & design of Aitor Commando is what get me into it than the previous Jungle King line up (it's not too big nor too small). You can always wrap the handle with 550 paracord to give it more tactile grip though. It ain't pretty but workable.

But hey, if pistol is to heavy does is that mean body armor for Marinir isnt suited for amphibious assault ? Since its veri rare to see marine with complete gear doing amphibious landing execise.
Ideally every plate carrier for naval or amphibious infantry should have foolproof "quick release" feature. Unfortunately such wisdom haven't reach Nusantara yet

I wonder why they use picture of the 1st ship from wikipedia, looks like a government website too, cant they access to shipyard for some pictures? Or request some pictures from shipyard?
Anyway, great to hear it is making a way into the sea.
This project should ve given a chance to gain know-how, learn how to operate large composite and trimaran vessels for sake of future, for more advanced hulls to emerge. I consider klewang more of as a technology demonstrator and product development.
