Japan's Minister of Defense Nobuo Kishi says the world must protect Taiwan from China

Japan's Minister of Defense Nobuo Kishi is calling on all nations to take note of China's aggression towards Taiwan. Kishi says that the international community needs to apply more pressure on China. He says their response will determine whether China succeeds in taking Taiwan by force in the future.

For the first time, Japan has stated in its national defense report that Taiwan's stability is critical to Japan's own safety. The report says that China has a clear advantage over Taiwan in terms of military power, which could be used as a major threat.

Kishi says that starting from last year, China's air force has frequently violated Taiwan's air defense zones in the south. Early this year, China's air force and navy also appeared in Taiwan's eastern defense zones.

Kishi says that peace in Taiwan can only be maintained with the help of other nations. He says the world "cannot sit on the sidelines" while China continues to pose a military threat to Taiwan. Japan and the US have both already led military exercises in the Taiwan Strait, in case of a future attack.

While China's military power far surpasses Taiwan's, Kishi still says that Taiwan has valuable resources to protect itself, in the form of a multi-level defense system. He welcomes European countries to take a more active role in the Indo-Pacific, saying peace in the region is essential for global stability.
