The Kawasaki P-1 is a four-engine jet ocean patrol boat, designed and built by the aeronautical division of the Japanese company Kawasaki Heavy Industries, with which the Japanese intend to replace the widespread P-3 Orion. Unlike many maritime patrol planes, which are typically civilian project conversions, the P-1 is a maritime aircraft purposely built without being derived from a civilian aircraft and was designed from the outset for the role.
