Pentagon’s No.1 weapons supplier Lockheed Martin has achieved a milestone with the delivery of the 500th High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, better known as HIMARS.
“We’ve delivered the 500th High Mobility Artillery Rocket System – an effort spanning our team and more than 200 suppliers across 35 states,” Lockheed Martin said in a Facebook post Thursday.
As noted by the company, in service since 2005, the launcher has demonstrated its capability and reliability throughout nearly two decades supporting U.S. and international partners in combat operations all over the world.
With its adaptable capabilities and ongoing integrations and advancements, this launcher is in high demand throughout the U.S. Army, the U.S. Marine Corps, and many of our Allies and global partners. With the U.S. Army committing to its use through 2050, HIMARS will continue to be produced for years to come.
On Sept. 28, the 500th HIMARS launcher rolled out of the Precision Fires Center of Excellence. Thousands of hours of manpower helped make HIMARS what it is today.
