Don't know where to put this one; Simsek Target Drone > Cruise Missile

Our target plane, tired of being hit #ŞİMŞEK , now decided to shoot! ŞİMŞEK has become a GPS-guided missile that can fly autonomously and hit targets at long distances. We won't disclose it's distance.

Congratulations Tusaş Congratulations Roketsan

If it were equipped with man-in-the-loop guidance, it would have been more practical in hitting air defense systems and radars, but with only GPS and a small explosive warhead, it wouldn't have much effect other than depleting the air defense systems of warships, for example !!

the range is 70km from ground launch but it can also be released from other drones such as Anka to increase combat usefulness.

Video have probably been shared but is included for ref.

This is not the final product, they are using simsek to evaluate subsystems.

The final product will be something that worths to talk about.

Are you hinting at something supersonic? :)
After all why should we cheer like the 3rd world countries who develop cruise missile look-a-likes from the simple target drones? :)
That should be either something supersonic, something that can mimic aircrafts, cruise missiles by option, something that can target air defence systems with dual mode seeker or something that can loiter in addition to features above with a long endurance, so that it worths for the cheer.

In Tolga Ozbek's interview, it is said that Simsek could be designed to mimic an fighter jet on radars. It could be used as decoy to make potential enemy fighters to take off (which is costly) or a few of them can fly with an f16 to distrupt enemy radar.

We should fly them on the Aegean to mess with the Greeks.

But when kuzgun-TJ comes .. it wont be of value
Şimşek can perfectly simulate the IR and radar signature of a fighter. It is very valuable as a decoy now it has cruise missile-like capabilities on top of that. No R&D spending just smart use of the existing capability. It is a 75kg target plane so it is cheap.

Simsek used to be more or less a RC-plane with some reflectors and heat sources to simulate various targets so the base product were really cheap. There are tons of similar air-crafts on Youtube when you don't need military grade subsystems. I think you could actually build something similar for $5-10k.

The price will obviously increase with added advanced payloads (IIR) and military grade communication. However, I think it will still be cheaper than other systems since the purpose seem to be really cheap solution for certain tasks such as decoy and suppression of short/medium range air-defence. I think this was a very good lesson from the second Karabag war were cheap AN-2 were used very successfully for such tasks.

On the contrary, Kuzgun seem to be a relatively advanced family of missiles.
