The Dutch government made such a decision on Friday, February 18, in response to Ukraine's request for military assistance amid the threat of a new Russian invasion.
In particular, the Netherlands is to provide sniper rifles, helmets, body armor, radars and metal detectors to Ukraine.
Meanwhile, the European Parliament formally approved a package of macro-financial assistance for Ukraine worth 1.2 billion euros on February 16.
The package of assistance was voted for by 598 MEPs, 55 voted against and another 41 abstained.
The funding will be allocated in two tranches within 12 months. It is expected that the first tranche will be allocated in March.
At the same time, the funds will be provided in addition to the €5.6 billion that the country has already received from the EU under past programs.
