SMASH is a remotely operated stabilized weapon station fitted with 30mm Mk44 Bushmaster-II Canon.

SMASH configurations incorporate advanced features as remote operation, built-in electro-optic sensor system for autonomous operation, day and night operation, stabilized turret, automatic target tracking (detect, track and fire on the move) and ballistic computation.

SMASH System has a stabilized turret which enables the line-of-sight of the gun to be aimed at the target at all times. Due to the stabilization feature, the system can perform precise firings against stationary or moving targets while the platform is on-the-move.

System can be operated remotely by using the remote gun control unit and hence provides gunner protection against counter fire. Besides, SMASH System is capable of firing 200 rounds per minute with its dual feed 30mm automatic cannon.

As opposed to fixed sight systems used on 12.7mm STAMP and 25mm STOP systems, SMASH incorporates a seperately stabilized electroptical suit which can move in elevation and azimuth axes relative to gun. This ensures effective firing at long distances by enabling line-of-sight stay on the target at all times, even during the firing where ballistic correction is applied to the gun. The separately stabilized electroptical sight also enables surveillance and target tracking without aiming the gun to the target.

The Bangladesh Navy is purchasing Turkish-made weapons systems for integration with its newly built warships. To this end the Navy confirmed to Defseca.com that it is to obtain remote controlled stabilised naval gun systems from Aselsan for the first time.

The Turkish defence systems manufacturer will supply and integrate SMASH 30mm Mk44 Bushmaster-II cannons and STAMP-2 remote controlled 12.7mm machine guns on its newly built patrol craft that are currently being built in Bangladesh by the Khulna Shipyard.

SMASH 30mm

The SMASH 30mm cannons will be incorporated aboard 5 newly built patrol craft of Padma class, including on BNS Shaheed Daulat, BNS Shaheed Farid, BNS Shaheed Akhteruddin and BNS Bishkhali. These naval gun systems are fitted with built-in electro-optic sensor system for autonomous operation, day and night operation, stabilised turret, automatic target tracking on the move and ballistic computation.

STAMP-2

These patrol craft are an updated variant of the Padma class patrol craft that were also delivered by the Khulna Shipyard to the Bangladesh Navy earlier.

The second generation of Padma class patrol craft designs were also supplied by China Shipbuilding & Offshore International Co., Ltd. in a contract signed with the Khulna Shipyard and the Bangladesh Navy in May 2019.

The 51.6 m long patrol craft have a maximum speed of 21 knots and are armed with a 30mm SMASH cannon and two 12.7mm CIS 50 machine guns, which will be fitted on the STAMP-2 RCWS.
The patrol craft will be powered by two MTU diesels from Germany and use two CAT generators from the United Kingdom. The Bangladesh Navy is scheduled to receive the first two units of the patrol craft by 31 December 2021.

Can it be fitted with CIS-50?

Why not. STAMP-2 is moduler and can be fitted with either a 12.7 mm Machine Gun or a 7.62 mm Machine Gun or a 40 mm Grenade Launcher.

I hope ETA to float on water is coming soon. BTW Padma class is not a bad platform, but for future builds, modified Tuzla Class IMHO is maybe a better option. We should get ToT from the yard in Turkey who built the Tuzla class. Tuzlas displace 400 tons, as opposed to the 350 ton Padma Class. Lower height than Padma class and more stealthy profile.

Padma is an efficient design, all they need to do is make it go through a design review and update the lines to the modern one. It will cost much less.

Also it's a patrol vessel not a front line warship. Stealth isn't absolutely necessary for it. BN's focusing on larger ship now not in small patrol boat.

All needed to be done, extend supper structure to the sides, remove hatches opening to the sides, both top deck area increases by 15-20%, a corridor may be added inside with two hatches opening to the fore-deck and rear deck.

-Deck area increases
-Bridge area increases
-Main deck used more efficiently
-Integrated better
-Less hatches, no direct access into the critical rooms from hatches (saving from costs, down to 2 hatches from 6)
-20-30 tones increase in displacement at most
-Cost increase 5-10% at most
-Time needed a few months for re-design

This is still a PB, with a more efficient and modern looking design.

We have been deceived again. It's not 30mm SMASH. The reporter said it's Bofors (বরফ) ⬆️, but can't figure out the model. Which idiot runs KSY's website? Now even navy is pulling prank on us. 😑
