That’s like saying AKP are incapable of drawing investors.
No, it is you misunderstanding, Türkiye is an investor friendly country, easy to do business, you do not have to corner foreign investors to invest in Türkiye but they will find it profitable to invest in Türkiye. There is attraction and not compulsion.

Turkey likely seeks to be a HUB for Solar Panels.
The new Investments are Insane!

Kalyon PV (Total Capacity 2000MW)

The company announced on Aug. 11 that it agreed to sell a 50% stake in Kalyon Energy to International Holding Co (IHC) for 1.8 billion dirhams ($490 million).
Kalyon PV’s yearly 1,000 megawatts (MW) production capacity will be lifted to more than 2,000 MW through a $150 million to $200 million investment that will also expand its employment to 3,000, he said.

Their 1350MW Solar Plant in Konya is almost finished.

Alfa Solar (Total Capacity 1500MW)

The facility we opened today is a 750 megawatt solar panel. "It will produce in the first place. With the completion of the factory, a capacity of 1.5 gigawatts will be created."

Smart Güneş Enerjisi AŞ (Total Capacity 2000MW)

When the facility, which has an investment cost of 7,627,000,000 TL, is completed, new employment opportunities will be created for a total of 2,335 people, 100 of whom are qualified personnel.

The investment, which will be realized by Smart AŞ and the start date of which is determined as May 01, 2022, will have a production capacity of wafers, cells and photovoltaic solar panels, starting from the production of silicon ingots of 2.048MW per year.

We have increased the capacity of our production line by 50 percent in order to reach an annual capacity of 2.5 gigawatts by the end of 2022

1665826994382.png

Solar Panel Production Capacities by Country 2021

China 124 thousand megawatts
Vietnam 14 thousand megawatts and
South Korea 9 thousand 200 megawatts.
Turkey 7,960 megawatts
Malaysia 7,400 megawatts
USA 5,700 megawatts.

Theoretically these Investments alone would increase the Capacity to 14.250 Megawatts and would put Turkey in 2nd Place.

The Minister has mentioned that as a Target 5 Days ago as well.

"We produce approximately 8 gigawatts of solar panels. Hopefully, our goal is to rise to the 2nd place from next year," he said.

That is installed capacity. It’s equally if not more important to follow up on the output.
Some people make investments just to show of.

just like this new building that is 2-3 years old, PV on the side…. I drive by it often enough to get annoyed everytime. Nothing on the roof.

Don't know where this source is from, but India has the same production capacity ~2.8% (of world PV module capacity) as entire Europe (2.8%) or North America (2.4%) , so it really should be on this list somewhere too (ROW is according to IEA around 1.9% of total world):

It (module production capacity) is expected to double from about 18 GW to 36 GW in a couple years time:

EÜAŞ: Domestic generator serial production will start in the first quarter of 2023

İzzet Alagöz, General Manager of Elektrik Üretim AŞ (EÜAŞ) made evaluations to AA correspondent after the third Power Systems Conference organized by the International Large Power Systems Council (CIGRE) Turkish National Committee this year.

Noting that EÜAŞ operates 64 power plants on behalf of the public, Alagöz said that the automation systems in these power plants are dependent on abroad.

Pointing out that there are five countries in the world that produce these automation systems, Alagöz said, "If you are not one of these five countries, you are deeply connected to these automation systems. Developing these systems is a struggle to gain the freedom of our country in terms of technology. That's why we had to develop a domestic automation system. As EÜAŞ, we had a great control system. "We have developed the system. We use the world's fastest microprocessor. Currently, we claim to be the best in the world." used the phrases.

Noting that they first implemented the domestic automation system at the Kepez hydroelectric power plant in Antalya 2.5 years ago, Alagöz continued:

"We are currently applying it to our 20th hydroelectric power plant. Hydroelectric power plants are not our ultimate goal, if we are the best in the world in automation system, we have to apply them to every field of the industry. We have developed a system that we can use in the iron and steel industry, cement industry, nuclear power plant and refineries, and we are currently in serial production. With production, we are starting our thermal power plant applications in 2023. Therefore, we will provide diversity in the product application area. At the moment, it has gone far beyond the sufficient level to prove itself."

"We are currently producing our seventh generator"

Noting that the first domestic generator was produced in 4 years and the second generator in 4 months, Alagöz said:

"With our increasing knowledge, we have improved on generator technology, and by increasing the efficiency of our own generators, we have succeeded in increasing the 150 megawatt generator to 180 megawatts. Therefore, we are now a team that has set its own standards with its experience in generators. We are currently producing our seventh generator. However, we are satisfied with producing 1-2 generators. "We need to start mass production with our rising energy. We are establishing the factory in Ankara in the first quarter of 2023 to start mass production."

Noting that the work on domestic turbine production has reached the final stage, Alagöz said, "We have finished our design, we have produced the model turbine. Currently, the turbine is in the production phase and we have a 62-year-old hydroelectric power plant, whose name is Hasan Polatkan, inaugurated by the late Adnan Menderes. Now it needs to be changed, it needs to be renewed. We will not renew its name. We will respect his memory in the power plant established by Adnan Menderes, but I hope we will establish a domestic power plant with a local turbine, local generator and local control system, where we will see the Turkish engineer stand up on the Sakarya river. We hope to achieve it in the second quarter of 2023. " he said.

Turkiye is blessed by God to have a climate that is so conducive to renewable energy.
To produce electricity from 100% renewable sources only, Turkiye only needs 5% to come from stored renewable electricity.
Most other nations are not so lucky.

My country needs to get 46% from stored renewable electricity and this will cost us so much more. Yet, Malaysia refuses to even consider building nuclear power plants!!!

Saudi Arabia has great solar energy potential but the wind speeds there must not be as good as in Turkiye so more renewable energy needs to be stored.

The implication for Turkiye is clear. With such favorable renewable energy resources, Turkiye can overbuild RE generating capacity and export excess RE to neighbors, thereby creating energy dependency on Turkiye and thus, enhancing Turkiye's national security.

Turkiye can "pacify" Egypt by exporting RE to Egypt at times when there is no sunshine and no wind blowing in Egypt.
This happens quite frequently in Egypt which is why so much RE needs to be stored for 100% renewable electricity.

Turkiye's extensive hydro power infrastructure is super helpful when the wind is slow and the sun is down.
So much hydro power can be ramped-up during low-RE periods and quickly ramped-down when the wind picks up and the sun shines.

Türkiye in talks with Russia for construction of 2nd nuclear power plant

Türkiye has started negotiations with the Russian State Atomic Energy Agency Rosatom for the construction of the nation's second nuclear power plant in the northern province of Sinop, Turkish Deputy Energy and Natural Resources Minister Alparslan Bayraktar announced on Monday.

Türkiye has prioritized energy security as a result of the energy crisis, putting nuclear power at the forefront of its energy plans.

Bayraktar's remarks came at the Atomexpo 2022 international nuclear energy event in Russia's coastal city of Sochi.

To achieve the goal of becoming carbon neutral by the turn of the century, Türkiye has laid out extensive energy plans over the next 30 years, with nuclear power central to this goal, according to Bayraktar.

'We need at least 16 to 20 reactors, according to our initial estimates, or we need 12 to 16 reactors in addition to the Akkuyu Nuclear Power Plant to be a carbon neutral economy by the turn of the century,' he said.

Negotiations for the construction of the second nuclear plant in Sinop began with Japan, but Turkey is now set to restart talks with Rosatom, building on the experience gained during the development of the first plant, Akkuyu, to ensure competitiveness in this sector.

Bayraktar disclosed that Türkiye is also in talks with South Korean and US companies for nuclear energy development, while negotiations are ongoing with the Chinese government for the third power plant.

- Russia prioritizes Türkiye for nuclear power plant construction

Alexey Likhachev, the general manager of Rosatom, cited the escalating political unrest around the world and its detrimental effects on the energy industry which has seen skyrocketing natural gas prices that once traded at $200 per thousand cubic meters (tcm) to the current $4,000 per tcm as the pivot towards nuclear energy.

According to Likhachev, many European countries, particularly France and Germany, have begun to reconsider the power resource as the trend toward nuclear energy has grown in recent years.

With nuclear energy on the verge of a transformation, Likhachev said Russia is prioritizing Türkiye, Bangladesh, Hungary, Egypt and African countries for the construction of nuclear power plants.

The Sinop nuclear power plant will be the country's second nuclear project, following the country’s first nuclear plant, the under-construction Akkuyu project.

An agreement for the Akkuyu plant was signed in 2010, and next year the first reactor is scheduled to come online.

Minister Kirişci: Yusufeli Dam and HEPP meet 2 percent of Turkey's hydroelectric capacity

Minister of Agriculture and Forestry Vahit Kirişci made inspections at Yusufeli Dam and HEPP, the construction of which has been completed and will start to be impounded with a ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan tomorrow.

Stressing that they will witness history tomorrow in Yusufeli, Kirişci said that they will attend the water retention ceremony of Turkey's highest dam and the world's 5th largest dam in its category.

Wishing that the dam will be beneficial to the nation and the country, Kirişci said, "Let the electricity produced from the water to be kept here turn into production and abundance in our country. It will increase the production of our country, we need electricity for our industry, for our own needs in houses, just as our people need food after agricultural production. We also need electricity for electricity production. dams are meaningful to us, they are important." he said.

Noting that the dams are expressed with their installed power, Minister Kirişci continued his words as follows:

"Yusufeli Dam has an installed power of 558 megawatts and an electricity generation capacity of 1.9 billion kilowatt-hours. This place meets 2% of Turkey's hydroelectric capacity. A single dam meets 2% of our power. It means meeting the electricity needs of Antalya, which has a population of 2.5 million and is Turkey's 5th largest city, so that the electricity produced can be understood more easily. "It means producing electricity, which is the need of 750 thousand of our country. Let our citizens visualize it as a hundred-story building. Such a magnificent work will be put into service tomorrow."

Expressing that the Yusufeli Dam will almost be a safety valve for the dams on the Çoruh River, Kirişci said, "The successor Deriner Borçka Muratlı Artvin said that the current production of these four dams can produce 695 million kilowatt-hours more, that is, they can increase their electricity production capabilities by this amount, thanks to Yusufeli. Let's point that out." said.

"A dam that will also reduce the effects of flooding"

Noting that the sediment brought by the water will be kept in Yusufeli Dam, Kirişci said, "If the water is not kept in place, it causes floods. Floods can damage agricultural lands as well as damage settlements and sometimes cause the loss of our people's lives. It's a dam that will also reduce related effects." used the phrases.

Emphasizing that Yusufeli Dam is a dam where Turkish engineers, Turkish technicians, Turkish technicians and workers shed sweat and mind from beginning to end, Kirişci said, "This is a magnificent work, too. It is a work that we can all be proud of. Our country is better than its name in the world with such mega projects. "We believe that it will be talked about a lot. The contractor company will have proven itself with this work and will have progressed further. The owner of this project is our State Hydraulic Works. We are an institution that is the apple of our eye, and here we must hand over the rights of the State Hydraulic Works as a nation." said.

Minister Kirişci stated that a total of 34 billion TL was spent and said:

"Of course, this money is not only for the construction of the dam. For example, 110 kilometers of roads were built. 69.2 of these 110 kilometers of road were built as state provincial roads, and 40 kilometers were built as village roads. It would be very beneficial for us to throw the money into it.The tunnel length of Turkey, which consisted of only 50 kilometers until 2002, is 62 kilometers in this dam alone. I think it would be appropriate to express it.”
