The American-Israeli military operation against Iran, designed for swift and significant impact, has instead become prolonged, with the confrontation between both nations creating substantial economic consequences across much of the globe.

Australia – a long-standing ally of the United States for many years, initially provided full support for American actions during the first phase of Operation Epic Fury.

"We support the United States acting to prevent Iran from obtaining a nuclear weapon and to prevent Iran continuing to threaten international peace and security," Anthony Albanese said.

Nevertheless, one month into the conflict, a noticeable shift in Canberra's stance toward the extended confrontation has emerged.

"It is not clear what more needs to be achieved — or what the end point looks like. What is clear is that the longer this war goes on, the more significant the impact on the global economy will be. This war may be on the other side of the world but it's causing real pain here, for farmers, truckies, small businesses and families," he said.
Additionally, public opinion within the country remains divided, as demonstrated by a recent survey. Forty-three percent expressed opposition to the US and Israeli bombing campaigns across Iran, while thirty-one percent indicated uncertainty in their response. Australians favor resolving the conflict through peaceful negotiations facilitated by international organizations, according to the poll results.

“The US strikes on Iran are supported by the public, but they also seem to be undermining support for the US alliance more generally,” Peter Lewis, the executive director of Essential Media, said of the poll results.
