The Russian Air Force has an assault helicopter called the Ka-52 Alligator that can fly in any weather condition. The Ka-52 attack helicopter is a twin-seat variation of the Ka-50 attack helicopter. It was developed by the Kamov Design Bureau, which is a division of Russian Helicopters.

The Ka-52 is a highly manoeuvrable helicopter that can destroy enemy armoured and unarmored ground targets, tanks, low-speed aerial targets, and soldiers both on the frontline and in tactical depth. It can also engage low-speed aerial targets. Moreover, it is used as a surveillance platform and an airborne command post for a group of assault helicopters that are under its direction.

In December of 1996, the first Ka-52 helicopter was rolled off the assembly line. In June of 1997, the helicopter successfully completed its maiden voyage. At the Progress Arsenyev Aviationplant in the Primorye area of Russia, serial manufacturing of the Ka-52 aircraft was initiated in the year 2008. Rostec State Company includes Progress Arsenyev Aviation as one of its subsidiaries.
