Interesting how the Taliban Government has adopted the NATO standard gear of the previous commando units.

Nothing as of yet. Small to medium sized Chinese investments are coming into the country but relations have to improve for any joint exercises.

The problem is that there are many Uighur fighters in the Taliban. Which is effectively acting as a limitation on how close China and Afghanistan can get. Once China stops mistreating the Uighurs, relations will flourish.

The mistreatment of the Uighur in China will never stop in the near future. Afghanistan needs some solid strategic allies whom they can boost their trade with as well as military cooperation.

IEA managed to repair two additional helicopters and bring them back to service. Very surprising how many damaged aircrafts they’ve managed to bring back to service.

IEA MoD stated that Afghanistan will seek to purchase air defence systems this year to combat drones and protect the airspace (read against Iranian and American drones).

By the needs, IEA is probably looking for MANPADS + some mobile short to medium range air defence system.

Tier 1 suppliers is likely to be either China or Russia. If they refuse to supply, IEA could turn to NK or Belarus to buy some 2nd hand system.

I would love to see SUNGUR and HISAR systems in IEA, but they are likely too expensive and no chance Turkiye would sell.

During a recent military parade, the military of Afghanistan unveiled its secret rocket artillery program. At this point, the domestically developed rocket artillery seems to be quite inaccurate and short-range but with a lot of explosives. Quite similar to what has been developed by groups in Northern Syria and early on in Hamas' rocket program.

Hopefully the program can advance to better build quality, greater precision (despite being unguided) and longer ranges.

Clearly, the government is trying to build up conventional capabilities. This time bringing back to life Uragan MLRS merged with newer trucks. Poor truck, however.
