Ukraine expects to receive 16 Mark VI boats from the United States, the first to be built by the end of 2022.
The Pentagon has ordered two Mark VI patrol boats for Ukraine, according to the website of the US Department of Defense.
The ships will be built by SAFE Boats International LLC (Bremerton, Washington), and their cost will be almost $ 20 million.
The construction of the first batch of ships will be completed by December 2022.
The customer is the US Naval Systems Command, and funding is provided under the program to strengthen the defense of Ukraine.
Earlier, the commander of the Naval Forces of Ukraine, Oleksiy Neizhpapa, said that Ukraine would receive from the United States 16 Mark VI boats, some of which would be sent to the Sea of Azov to strengthen its defenses.
