In order to reduce training costs, the IDF has slowly replaced its cardboard targets with Polymer, multi-use, shooting range targets. This process has resulted in the Ground Forces issuing an exclusive two-year (the second year is optional) shooting targets supply tender for polymer shooting targets. Trango Systems, an Israeli defense solution has won the tender and completed all follow-up tests this week.

Polymer targets have become the standard for the Israeli Defense forces. Polymer targets take less storage room, as one target can take 12,000 5.56 caliber rounds before replacement is needed. Thus, replacing more than 50 units of cardboard targets. The polymer targets reduce training preparation time as they can be used without any need to replace them for days and weeks. They are water and heat resistant and therefore do not require any special storage or placement conditions and can be even left outside. Finally, they are completely safe, ricochet, and fragmentation free thus allowing close-range shooting training with no risk to the soldier’s safety.
