but still it's not okay to have your air defenses get destroyed by a small drone flying above you at a speed of a Cessna 172

I can't help but laugh at this fact. This is just awful for a modern ADS that is designed to shoot down low-flying high subsonic cruise missiles.

Russia already loosing market to China and with the performance of Russian air defenses seen on Syria, Libya and now Azerbaijan. It's not going to be good for Rosonboronexport. I know who operates them is the most important factor and factors such as layered air defense but still it's not okay to have your air defenses get destroyed by a small drone flying above you at a speed of a Cessna 172. Their air defense systems definitely have issues detecting smaller drones. I bet that they can actually track an F-16 but not a drone. Maybe because of large use of composite material for airframe and slow motion of the drone?? I don't know. Anyway, they should sell us second batch of S400 with tech transfer or they are going to have hard time getting their reputation back.

Yeah, very likely that China will replace the Russians in the global arms market.

The KM-SAM which is also known as the Cheolmae-2 or Cheongung or M-SAM is a South Korean medium range surface-to-air missile (SAM) system that was developed by the Agency for Defense Development (ADD) with technical support from Almaz-Antey and Fakel, based on technology from the 9M96 missile used on S-350E and S-400 missile systems.

A complete battery consists of up to six 8-cell transporter erector launchers (TELs), a passive electronically scanned array (PESA) X-band multi-function phased array 3D radar (based on the one from the Russian S-400), and a fire command vehicle.[6] The radar operates in the X-band and rotates at a rate of 40 rpm, covering up to 80 degrees in elevation.[4] It can detect targets within 100 km (62 mi) and track up to 40 simultaneously.

The Cheolmae 4-H L-SAM is in development and it is to be an upper tier interceptor designed to take down ballistic missiles. It is planned to offer capabilities similar to that of the American Terminal High Altitude Area Defense missile with a range of 150 km (93 mi) and ceiling of 200,000 ft (61 km). Performance levels were to be twice as superior to the Patriot and Cheolmae II missiles, and is expected to be based on the Russian S-400 technology.

The ADD (Agency for Defense Development) plans to further develop the M-SAM as an anti-ballistic missile similar to the Patriot PAC-3, with increased range of 100–150 km (62–93 mi) and altitude coverage of 30 km (98,000 ft).

I dont trust S-400 system on the field of anti balistic defence.

Yes s-400 system have many long ranged missiles. But that is not mean this system very effective on balistic missile. A successfull balistic missiles must need a 5 key point

1- Active radar seeker + Terminal iir seeker = That is important for detecting missiles correctly with help of iir seeker. most of west system have but 40n86 and 48n6e3 doesnt have. 40n86 have only ins+active radar and 48n6e3 have semi active radar guide.

2- Terminal Thrust vectoring and four aerodynamic control moving fins = This balistic missiles very fast and wings are not enough they are's need pif paf vectoring capabilty. most of west system have. but we dont know anything about him on 40n86 and 48n6e3.

3- Hit to kill warhead : That is important for anti balistic defence . Just because target ballistic missiles is very fast and proximity fuse warheads doesnt explode true time . So for succesfull hit they need hit to kill warheads. But 40n86 and 48n6e3 doesnt have.

4- Altittude : 40n86 alttitude is 30 km and that missile generally for strategic bombers, awacs, refuel aircrafts. But 48n6e3 have 60 km alttitude thats not bad but also not a same level with thaad, sm-3 and even arrow 2 .

5- Speed : Speed also important for a hit a balistic missile if a interceptor missile speed is more than balistic it's easy to hit. Most speedest s-400 missile 48n6e3 is mach 5.9 . Almost same with srbm's. İt's hard to say that's a completly succesfull upon srbms.

------

For this reason western air defence systems expensive than easterns. Most of our experts (include old air force generals) thinks s-400 most powerfull air defence due his 400 km range. Yes they have 400 km range just because its a min 700 mm diametered balistic rocket based air defence missile .

Korkut C-RAM is in development

Aselsan STR Counter-Battery Radar is entering service in 2021. It is going to be a very important part of Turkish air defense systems such as Korkut family.

Aster 30 and its better and future variants are very important for TF-2000 air defense destroyer project as its compatible with MK41 launcher. Goal of TF-2000 is also to provide air defense against ballistic missiles.

Are you people still talking about Aster after what that macaroni did against us? Should invest in Hisar-U, Tf2000 will be ready after 2027 if it goes like this the first ship :) .

TF-2000 will have both MK41 and MDAS (Turkish Vertical Launching System).

Hisar-U's anti-ballistic missile capable ground-based variant will most likely enter service 2027-30+, and its ship-based version 2030s+.

There needs to be a stop gap until our local systems get developed but its also difficult under this political climate but maybe Aster 30 or SM-2 Block IV.

I am counting for the days that we will not depend on no one for any systems.

Turkish Armed Forces to Activate, Test S-400 Air Defence System

turkey-s-_1601901528.jpg

Turkish armed forces have commenced the process of activating and testing the S-400 Air Defense System (ADS) purchased from Russia at a training ground near the northern city of Sinop.

In preparation for the test, 10 Banshee air targets will be delivered to the Sinop missile range for the S-400 tests, which are to take place from October 5 to 16, Turkish Minute reported, citing official government correspondence.

"Test launches of the S-400 system will be carried out at the Sinop missile range from 5 to 16 October 2020 to test the combat readiness of the S-400, the ability to detect and track the radars of the system, the capabilities of the communication system, as well as to test fire control and command control," - the document reads, according to the publication.
According to the document, the Turkish President had authorized the preliminary activation of the system to test the capabilities of the radars at the Myrted airfield near Ankara from September 28 to October 2 2019.

It was during this time reports had emerged of the Turkish S-400 ADS tracking Turkish F-16s and US F-35s as they flow close to the Caspean Sea
The documents seen by Turkish Minute states that during the tests, the commanders at the observation post will have to obtain permission from the Turkish President for each missile launch two hours before it.
S-400 batteries, 10 air targets, a ground control station for drones and other necessary equipment were to arrive from the Myrted airbase in Sinop on October 5.

After deployment near Sinop, the S-400 batteries will have to fire at aerial targets from October 5 to 16, the document reads, says Turkish Minute.
The activation may further aggravate relations between the US and Turkey as Washington has already the sale of F- 35 jets and US politicians are clamoring for sanctions to be imposed on Ankara for buying Russian equipment.

On July 17, 2020 the US House of Representatives passed the Countering Russia’s Export of Arms Act with bipartisan support, which would designate the acquisition of the S-400 by Turkey as “a significant transaction pursuant to Section 231 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA),” Republican Representative Adam Kinzinger said at the time.

“Not later than 30 days after the date of the enactment of this Act, the President shall, pursuant to section 231 of the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act, impose five or more of the sanctions described in section 235 of such Act (22 U.S.C. 8 9529) with respect to the Government of Turkey’s acquisition of the S-400 air and missile defense system from the Russian Federation,” the bill approved in the House of Representatives stipulates.

Looks like sungurs front guidance section diameter 70 mm but booster section is 90 mm like mistral. İf that new 2x launchers capable to fire 90mm diametered Roketsan cida missile ;

Cida-2.jpg

His in the basis lazer guided rpg. his max unoffical range is 1 km (750 official). İt is very cheap ammo big probaply his price will be 2x more that rpg ammo. His tandem warhead big propably will be around same like rpg anti tank warhead and it capable around 600-700 mm penetration. Not bad he can penetrate all armoured vehicles and most of tanks from all sides.

İfv's and Tanks are facing tanks around 2-4 km but, bmc vuran like apc's is facing tank generally 1-2 km and generally in urban areas. We use him in sungur concept or we can integrate 2x of him in sungur lanchers to sarp duals 7.62mm section on kirpi's ;

This sounds like just a live fire test of the systems. Not exactly "activation" of the S-400 in a continuous posture to provide defense over national airspace. I doubt it'd lead to the US enacting CAATSA.
