Forces loyal to putschist General Khalifa Haftar obstructed Libya's interim Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah's visit to the city of Ghat, a lawmaker said Tuesday.

Nasr Youssef, who represents Ghat in the parliament, told Anadolu Agency that the pro-Haftar militia prevented the visit, citing lack of "prior coordination."

The lawmaker slammed the militiamen's actions and urged locals "to take a serious stand to secure the interests of the city."

He said Dbeibah's visit was aimed at studying the city's needs and addressing the challenges facing its residents.

Ghat is controlled by Haftar's forces.

There was no comment on the lawmaker's claims from the Libyan authorities and the visit was not officially announced.

Libya has been in turmoil for a decade, with the last several years seeing a war between forces backing rival governments based in the east and west, supported by regional powers, foreign fighters and mercenaries. Russia, France, Egypt and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) have been some of the biggest supporters of putschist Gen. Khalifa Haftar, while Turkey backed the internationally recognized Government of National Accord (GNA) in the west.

Last October's cease-fire between rival eastern and western governments, after U.N.-hosted talks, led to a transitional government taking office in March to usher the country towards elections at the end of this year.

However, warlord Haftar still acts independently of the legitimate government, leads an armed militia that controls vast areas, and calls himself the "Commander-in-Chief of the Libyan National Army," putting him at odds with the presidency council.

In September, Haftar announced he was suspending his military activities, a step that could lead to his candidacy in elections later this year.

In a statement, Haftar said he had named an interim replacement as head of the self-proclaimed Libyan National Army (LNA) until Dec. 24, the date of the legislative and presidential vote.

Temporarily elevating his chief-of-staff to the post "appears to be the informal announcement of his intention to run for president," Libya analyst Emadeddin Badi said in a tweet.

Also last month, Parliamentary speaker Aguila Saleh ratified legislation governing the presidential ballot and which critics say bypassed due process to favor his ally Haftar.

With the current trend, Haftar is gonna win which isnt good for Turkey

Difficult equations in Libya... What should Turkey do?

VERYANSIN TV
Libya, which was dragged into civil war after the NATO intervention and the overthrow of Gaddafi, has been divided into two administrations formed by rival groups located in the west and east since 2014.

Although a unity government has been established under the leadership of the United Nations, the political crisis continues in the country where the power struggle between the east and the west continues. Last week, the Speaker of the House of Representatives (TM) Abdullah Bileyhik announced that the parliamentary elections will be held 30 days after the presidential elections. However, the State Supreme Council (DYK), another legislative body in the country, had previously rejected electoral laws.

On the other hand, it was announced that the 5+5 Joint Military Committee, which was formed under the leadership of the United Nations, representing the Libyan parties, approved the plan for the gradual departure of foreign mercenaries, foreign fighters and foreign forces from the country as a result of the meetings held in Geneva, Switzerland last week. Simultaneously, the interim government called for foreign mercenaries and other forces to leave the country.

Experts evaluate the developments in the context of the US and the West's discomfort with the presence of Turkey and Russia in Libya. Especially USA, France and Italy; It makes statements and actions targeting the presence of Turkey and Russia in Libya.

Former Chief of General Staff Intelligence, retired Lieutenant General İsmail Hakkı Pekin answered the questions of Elif İlhamoğlu from the International analysis site United World International .

'THEY ARE TRYING TO DRIVE TURKEY AND RUSSIA FROM LIBYA'

Is the West trying to get the USA, Turkey and Russia out of Libya in particular?
“Yes, the new government is trying to get Turkey and Russia out of the country with the help of the West, especially the USA and France. Even the elections are postponed. The interests of Russia and Turkey collide in Libya. The two countries can reach an agreement in Libya. That's why they're already trying to get them out. The presence of Turkey and Russia in the region creates a disadvantage for the USA and France. Russia's staying there is a critical issue for the United States. Russia's stay in Libya after Syria provides an advantage for Moscow's activities both in the Eastern Mediterranean and in Africa. It's the same with Turkey being there.

Presence of Russia in the region will also disadvantage the West/USA in controlling energy. The USA is trying to divide that country into several parts. Maybe the federation. However, in such underdeveloped countries, the issue of federation causes conflict and civil war after a while, so it is important for the future of Libya that Turkey and Russia stay there. It is also important for the two countries to stay there in order to frustrate the US plans in the region.”

'PURPOSE, REGIONAL WARS THROUGH CIVIL CONFLICT'

Could you explain a little more about these plans that the USA has established over Libya?
“We know that the USA withdrew its troops to Asia-Pacific and made a military build-up there. The military, economic, technological center may be shifting there, to Asia. But the Pacific is not the center for the outbreak of a general war. That region is so surrounded by nuclear weapons and advanced military technologies that there will be no war there, because the war there will be a world war.

Points of war; Eastern Mediterranean, Middle East, West Africa, Central Asia and Caspian Basin. Here, the US is trying to create conflicts and civil wars with proxy wars, sectarianism and micro nationalism. The West and the USA want conflict here. They are trying to create grounds to legitimize their own interventions by forcing countries into internal conflicts. They want conflict in the Mediterranean, in Iraq, in Syria and Iran, in Turkey. They keep the heap center in Asia Pacific and try to create internal conflicts in this region. For these games to be disrupted, the Mediterranean must become a sea of peace. One third of world trade is made from this sea. Providing peace and tranquility in this region is only possible with the agreement of the countries of the region.”

'ASTANA EXPERIENCE CAN BE MOVED TO LIBYA'

How can Moscow and Ankara develop a common stance on this issue? Can the two countries thwart this plan of the West by protecting their spheres of influence?
“The fact that Turkey and Russia remain in Libya may disrupt this game. The environment is very favorable for the two countries to develop cooperation in this regard. First of all, they can make joint investments, Libya needs infrastructure. They can undertake the restructuring activities of the country, the construction activities. Maybe Germany can help in this regard. In addition, the presence of the two countries there may pave the way for activities to be carried out through Libya in the context of China's Belt and Road project.

Turkey needs to understand this game well. The only way to prevent this game is regional alliance. With the regional alliance with Syria, Iran, Russia and Egypt, this game is broken. North Africa, Algeria, Libya… Here, Russia and Turkey should not come face to face with each other and should find an alliance ground. In the context of Libya, we can actually solve many problems. But if we face off, if we deal with short cycles, imperialism wins. Not only Libya, but also Syria, Jordan, Iraq, Lebanon are important here. There is both commercial, political and military cooperation. China's Belt and Road project paves the way. Cooperation in Libya paves the way for cooperation in Syria. Likewise, the experiences in Syria and Astana can be transferred to Libya. Problems are set aside, focus is placed on problems that can be solved. This is what should happen.

Turkish, Libyan officials discuss boosting bilateral ties

Deputy Foreign Minister Sedat Önal and Libya's High Council of State Khalid al-Mishri held a meeting in the Libyan capital Tripoli to discuss bilateral relations between the two countries Wednesday.

During the meeting, the two officials discussed ways to strengthen and support relations at all levels, according to a statement by the press office of the High Council of State. They spoke about the latest developments regarding elections in Libya scheduled for December, emphasizing the importance of holding them on time.

Al-Mishri and Önal also touched on the Libyan Stability Initiative conference which is scheduled to be held Thursday in Tripoli with the participation of several countries, including Turkey.

Libyan Foreign Minister Najla Mangoush announced that the conference will be held on Oct. 21 with participation at the ministerial level.

Libyan lawmakers voted on Tuesday to reschedule parliamentary elections for January instead of holding them on Dec. 24 as planned, a spokesperson said, a move likely to increase tensions among Libyan rivals already divided over bills regulating the planned elections.

Abdullah Bliheg, a spokesperson for the legislature, said lawmakers decided to hold parliamentary elections a month after the presidential vote scheduled for late December.

A U.N.-brokered road map had set both parliamentary and presidential elections for Dec. 24.

The elections have been seen by many as a step forward to end the country’s divisions. There has been pressure from international governments, including the U.S., on Libyan stakeholders to hold elections as scheduled.

Elections are supposed to help unify the country after years of conflict and division, but disputes over their legal and constitutional basis have laid bare the extent of the split between the country's east and west.

TAF must be feeling pretty stupid about devoting so much effort to save the LNA only for the Turkish government to give away all the advantages it had.

Oh yeah and of course Italians had to live up to their backstabbing stereotype once again.
Nothing you can do about that, sadly
And with al, due respect, Turkey had never had any advantages in Libya
What truly matters in libya is oil and oil is in the UAE-RUSSIA-EGYPT Axis
As long as whatever government in libya respect Turkey's maritime rights, Turkey should just co-operate with whoever rules the damn country

It absolutely had advantages. A solid hand with which to guide negotiations. It just proceeded to sit back and do nothing.

‘Turkey won’t attend Libya conference with Greece, Israel, Greek Cyprus’

Turkey will not attend a Paris conference on Libya that Greece, Israel and the Greek Cypriot administration will participate in, President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan said Sunday, speaking on his meeting with French President Emmanuel Macron at the G-20 summit in Rome.

Noting that the two leaders discussed a wide range of issues, the president mentioned that France aims to hold a conference on Libya similar to the previous Berlin conference.

“We cannot attend a Paris conference to which Greece, Israel and the Greek Cypriot administration participate, we told him (Macron). This is our condition. If these countries are to attend the conference, then there is also no need to send special representatives,” Erdoğan told journalists on his return from the summit.

One of the major issues in the Libyan conflict is the presence of mercenaries. The president said he reiterated to Macron that Turkey’s presence in the war-torn country is legitimate and falls under an agreement with the Libyan government. “Our soldiers there are instructors,” he said, refuting that Turkey's presence in Libya can be likened to that of illegal mercenaries in the country.

The Paris conference expected to be held in November aims to give a final international push so elections are held by year-end and to endorse the departure of foreign forces.

The summit, organized by the United Nations, Germany and Italy in Paris for Nov. 12, will gather regional and international heads of state.

On the other side, relations with France were recently strained due to Paris’ decision to sell French-made Rafale fighter jets to Greece as tensions in the Eastern Mediterranean are once again on the rise after months of relative calm.

The president explained that Macron told him that the Greeks have money, to which he responded that Athens has a 400 billion euro ($462.7 billion) debt.

Despite saying that it has no intention of entering into an arms race with its neighbor and NATO ally Turkey, Greece announced recently the purchase of three new Belharra frigates from France with the option for one more.

Earlier last month, Greece also announced that it was planning to buy six more Rafale fighter aircraft.

Greece has often been embroiled in tensions with neighboring Turkey over a range of issues, from competing claims over hydrocarbon resources in the Aegean Sea to the demilitarization of islands. Greece's burgeoning arms program is designed to counter Turkish challenges in the Eastern Mediterranean, against which France is among the few EU states to have offered public support in past months.

The announcement of boosting military ties with France comes after Defense Minister Hulusi Akar stated recently that secondhand French Rafale jets will not change the power balance in the region.

Mengush is known to support politically warmonger Haftar.
She had also speeches stating for removal of all foreign forces especially pointing Turkiye forces.
Mengush passed so many red lines for example:
Saying expressing word like
"Described Hafter as a hero "! and "defended his right to bomb Libya"!
or "How Turkey’s presence in Libya caused instability"

it's a positive sign that the Members of Government will have boundaries.
The red lines should NOT be crossed and NOT be able to act unilaterally.

She acted like there are NO consequence for her.
So the Fact is that Mengush went too far. Simple put she acted outside her remit, she's too big for her boots.

The Libyan government rejected the Presidential Council's decision to suspend Foreign Minister Necla al-Mengush.
How could she get picked in the first place ?

Well it's a good time to make the politicians/ministers show their affiliation so the people knows who are pro Haftar and who are not.

When Turkiye came to help Libya and start to overcome warmonger Hafter siege.
There started "Domino effect" a momentum which WILL definitely RESULT Hafter loss the war and Libya to be free.
So what happened when Libya forces supported by Turkiye reach SIRTE. EU, SA, UAE and puppets like Egypt become Afraid that it is over ( Hafter loss the war and Libya to be free) they need to Stop this momentum and Start Psudo Diplomacy so Turkiye agreed :(.

What happened next is that EU group "international ‘community’" what ever they called is formed to make steps for diplomacy.
Some decisions were made and in THAT moment How could she get picked in the first place ? Mengush was selected to represent other "side of people"

So since then till present EU talks driven by France is always supporting Mengush which she showed his True face that support warmonger Hafter and hate Turkiye.
Others like USA and UK did represent second important thing They also ARE against Turkiye
others 3rd line like Egypt, SA, UAE are doing the best to counter Turkiye
And the last russia they do you know support of any Dictator and make conflicts

At moment all above players in preparation for December "presidential elections". The Result there will decide future of Libya

Never should have stopped the offensive. Taking Sirte and the Al-Jufra Airbase would have sealed our victory. Russia would have been forced to leave and Haftar would have fled to Egypt never to be seen again. Instead Libya is slipping away because the government is unfocused.

We needed Libya cemented and then focus on other battlegrounds. Instead we have this shitshow to deal with and no one knows what the plan even is. Cavusoglu and is excellent diplomacy skills. Every gain the TSK makes this guy reverses and gives it back to the Russians or the West on a silver plater.

Wouldn't suprise me if Haftar somehow comes to power after December.
