Gokhan is to fly close to hypersonic speed according to Okumus.

"Of course, hypersonic missiles have speeds over Mach 5. It is now much more difficult to stop them by air defense systems. Therefore, these are the technologies you should have when you are working with high technology in the defense industry. In this sense, we are developing our air-to-air missile operating at supersonic speeds with the GÖKTUĞ Project. With the GÖKHAN Project, we will now have an air-to-air missile that works with RamJet. It will again be a supersonic missile (GÖKHAN), it will operate at speeds close to hypersonic, but it will have much more important advantages."
A car can be travelling at 200km/hour on a motorway, and you could be walking at a speed of 3km/hour. But if you adjust your speed and direction of walking well enough, you can still hit the car.
S400 works somehow in a similar way. The 250 and 200km range missiles are capable of just about reach hypersonic speeds (5.9 Mach) at their apogee, then slowing down at lower altitudes. These two missiles go nearly 55-60km altitude. Therefore can reach these high speeds. The 400km range missile supposedly can go as high as 185km and reach 12Mach. But start losing speed in it’s ballistic trajectory. It can start engaging targets around 30km, and manage to hit a missile or rocket travelling at 14 Mach, or a subsonic plane like an AWACS.
It is the way the missiles are directed by the guidance systems and their engine tech that matter.
The 120km range S400 missile, has a top speed of 2.9 Mach. But it has the highest probability of hitting it’s targets, which are travelling at up to 8 Mach speed. (New extended version can hit targets travelling at 14 mach).
All S400 missiles have single stage rocket motors with ballistic trajectories and large explosive warheads which explodes in proximity to their targets.
Our Hisar range rockets with dual pulse motors are actually technically superior. They have propulsion at terminal stages. They are hit to kill systems.
I don’t understand buying more S400 batallions, unless it is in response to Rafale purchase of Greece.
(We also mustn’t forget the over-exaggeration of specs of Russian systems by their officials)

You know we tested S-400 few times already perhaps military liked its performance? Or time to burn bridges with U.S. completely.

We can’t really turn our backs to the West completely. Our defence industry, for once, is based on Western technology. Machinery we use to produce the parts that make an engine or the fuselage of a plane, all come from the West.
There may be a lot of friction between us. But we will have to learn to live together. Russia can not be trusted either. They have always been our worst enemy. We need to play our cards right with the West. Keep a nice balance that benefits us most.
Although we have come a long way in home made stuff, we are still dependent on western parts and tech.
West is far ahead in military tech. They spend far more in R&D than the likes of Russia and China. (Chinese send their students to the western Universities to study). By keeping a foot in the western block we have access to this tech.
S400 is definitely a very capable system. Russian missiles are good. Our military may have liked the S400. But when it comes to fine electronics and intricate design, Russian stuff is more utilitarian rather than cutting edge. Our Hisar system is a much more difficult to produce as a system. What we lack are those missiles that S400 has.
But we are learning!!

turkey (like any other country) turns its face to its strategic benefits .. the side which offers better terms of TOT is the best .... If russian will give serious TOT which will accelerate the national air defence programm then turkey should turn its face toward them ... America it self buys rocket engines from the russian and deutschland buy the gas fr them

I did say that Russian missiles are good! And “cheap”.
That is why US is buying space faring rockets from Russia.
Gas is a natural resource!!??
You are correct. If Russians offer of TOT, involves real missile and radar tech transfer, all the merrier! Any less is not really interesting.
Unfortunately, if true, export version of Russian tech is very much a scaled down version of the real stuff. No amount of TOT is going to cut it. If you can produce the whole thing yourself then you are in control. Then you can outsource smaller parts of it from other countries or producers to meet cost parameters.

Finally SOM-C1 & C2 , which are capable of hitting moving sea targets will be test fired within 2022 according to the above news. At least we have sort of a “date” now!!!

As long as Turkey doesn't try stealing resources from the Egyptian EEZ nothing will happen.

The thief is Egypt trying to steal Turkish resources with greec and cyprus, it is like they throw bone and egypt is catching. how many times we kicked you people out our EEZ? Turkish ships never try to steal something from egypt.

now your place...

We dont care Egypt EEZ.

They managed a deal with Cyprus, it go back to 2004. Every body can find the EEZ deal between the to country. Egypt accepted the terms of Cyprus and accepted ther EEZ deal. So Egypt will accept and hand over big chunk of EEZ to Cyprus, Cyprus will allow Egypt to drill in ther EEZ, if they find somehting they will share it.

Cyprus play it smart, they thought to outgun us with different countries. People are still thinking that Egypt is brotherly:D. They come with different terms to us, go delete the deal with Cyprus first....

Mod edit: Please don't use insulting terms for countries

Turkey and Egypt will not work together in the future. A poor country that thinks of itself as an elite, we have invested a lot in the past years, but we did not receive the necessary returns. You don't have to worry so much about them, as we won't be trying again from now on. You don't need to think that the helpless countries that have become the wife of the Jewish population of 7-8 million are a military threat to you. Israel's administration has changed, and ours will continue to trade as usual and enter into a process of political renewal without spoiling its image.

Are we writing in “Middle Eastern Political Situation” thread or Turkish Gulded munitions thread?
If we get back to the main news;
Yes the addition of SOM-C 1 & 2 to the range will be a game changer for all navies in the Eastern Mediterranean. A sea-skimming totally stealthy missile with a prospective range of 350-400km range will be the nightmare of all ships in the region whether they be Egyptian or Greek or Israeli or French.

Why is there no surface launched SOM-C as it seems superior to the ATMACA?

This is not true. Egypt stole nothing on the contrary according to the Egypt Greece deal, Egypt is the net loser. Egypt lost an area as big as Cyprus because of the feud between Sisi and Erdogan. Egypt forgot the first rule of diplomacy rulers are temporary.
