If they talk about the range, they mean within NEZ.


I you look to simulators like DCS, a fighter that gets hit from long range is almost impossible. You need AWACS, and when a fighter gets lock on he will dive behind a mountain and break the radar lock. Or use EW to break the lock, how can a missile seeker not stronger then the radar of a figter be able to maitain the radar lock is the question.NEZ 60 km range? IF you fire a missile from 5000m high the chance hitting from that altitude is really low.

So is this NEZ nothing more then a hype? In scenario between Turkey and Greece will not the range of the missile of the fighter the decisive. Centric warfare is the answer, imagine Siper sharin data link with a Turkish F-16, or ships even submarin in the agean sea with sensors. Enemy fighter behind a island, you can fantasize scenarios :D . People should watch DCS fight on youtube, so you can understand basics of air to aire engatements.

Atmaca anti ship and Karaok anti tank missiles coming out of serial production runs are being delivered to TSK by Roketsan.
The Kara Atmaca and The submarine launched Atmaca planed to be in TSK inventory by 2025 are being worked on.

Gokhan missile is coming!!

We have reached the final stages in the liquid fuel RAMJET project. Hopefully by 2022 we will unveil a Ramjet Engine prototype operating at supersonic speeds.”

Ground fire test of Gökhan ramjet air to air missile will be done in 2023. The various firing tests will follow the ground fire test in 2023. Gökhan project is moving fast thanks to the experience gained in the Göktuğ project (Gökdoğan and Bozdoğan missiles). The first serial production batch of Gökdoğan and Bozdoğan missiles will be delivered this year.

When a ramjet heard, everyone thinks a Meteor. But I remember ASM-3 of Japanese.

We don't think, we know because it was confirmed that they are working on a Meteor-like missile called Gökhan.
Missile being worked on, has liquid fuel ramjet engine.
Meteor has a solid fuel ramjet engine.
They are very different. It is very difficult to make a solid fuel ramjet like Meteor as it is throttle-able.
Solid fuel is stuck on to the inside periphery of the combustion chamber and is stripped off in layers with an ablation method by hot air jets..
Our Gökhan missile, we are told, is going to have a liquid fuel ramjet engine. But to overcome the storage problems and the sinking of the solid additives to the bottom, that are needed with missile fuels, it most likely will be a gel type fuel that will power the engine. This type of fuel stores like solid fuel but acts like a liquid one, when ignited under pressure.
This is just as well since the next natural stage after the Ramjet is Scramjet. For that we definItely need gel type liquid fuels.

We have 3 different ramjet projects. Gel-type fuel will be used in all of them. The scramjet project will be the continuation of the ramjet project.
Tübitak SAGE Gökhan air to air missile(SAM version will also be studied).
Roketsan Akbaba anti-radiation missile.
Roketsan supersonic anti-ship/land-attack cruise missile.

Not using sfdr in missile will have lot of penalties , first one is that missile will be heavier and longer for similar range to meteor , will be complex to write code for manuvers as fuel will be moving inside Unless you make it pressurized and add weight for pump , and due to size ,you may find it harder to integrate on your tfx or the number will be 4 instead of 6 .

On plus side , it will be more maneuverable if u can write a good code for it .

And sfdr tech is pretty easy to develop compared to liquid fuel .

Solid fuel ramjet technology, especially the throttle-able version is not easy to develop. It is expensive and very precise.
You cannot easily turn off and then restart a solid fuelled rocket like you would with a liquid/gel fuelled one.
Since solid fueled rockets can’t be turned off they can be extremely dangerous.
The solid fuel is very integral to engine performance. So if you fire a solid rocket on the test stand then when you refuel and refurbish it for use on a launch vehicle you’re basically getting a new rocket motor.
Meanwhile, liquid fueled rocket engines can be tested repeatedly after construction and between maintenance cycles.
For a country like Turkey where finances are restricted, if your intentions are to go forward with Ramjet and Scramjet Anti Ship missile technology, then Liquid/gel fuelled version is a no brainer.
Solid fueled rockets cannot be throttled in response to changing flight conditions. You can pre-set the throttle of a solid-fueled rocket by carefully shaping the solid fuel before launch but once lit, that’s it. Liquid fueled engines can be throttled in response to emergencies, or even turned off.
Solid fueled rockets have lower exhaust velocities (a “specific impulse” of less than 300, while liquid fueled rockets usually range from 300 to 450), making them less efficient for their mass. They also tend to have high dry weights since they require heavy casings to contain the internal pressure of their combustion, while liquid fueled rockets can use lightweight for storage tanks.
As solid fuel is contained within the periphery of the ramjet engine’s combustion chamber, the fuel burning away changes the shape of the combustion chamber. However, that’s true for every solid rocket. That’s why an integral part of solid rocket science is designing the cross-section, or shape, of the solid fuel/oxidizer. Do you want constant thrust? Design the surface to maintain a constant area as it burns down. Constant acceleration? A bit more difficult as you must design the burning area to shrink at the exact rate at which mass ratio is changing.
Solid fueled rockets have the advantage of being easily prepared in advance and stored for years at a time. But this advantage is negated to a degree with Gel type fuels.

No, this part of your statement is definitely not true. Developing this sfdr technology will not be easy or cheap, as the solid fuel ramjet is much more difficult to manage.

Since when has the Aegean Sea has...mountains and canyons?
Any way, , the columnist beautifies a situation, where among other things he tells us about a rocket that will be ready in 2025, will cross the entire Aegean (with mountains and canyons), turkish EW systems jams the Greek ones, and thus will simply hit Greek targets. Α missile therefore it has not been made, I doubt if it will ever be made as he describes it.

It depends on what you are looking at

In terms of drone technologies and engine development, I believe Turkey is actually superior. However, in general aviation industry along with jet fighters, India does have the edge; and to be fair, India did have policies that did aided in its endeavour for a long time while Turkey started the race in the mid 2010s. In fact, I would give Turkey credit for actually moving this far in such a short time frame of a decade or so

It is a testimony to Turkish potential and how it was both unfairly thrown out into the dustbin as well as being squandered by EU countries for a long time..... practically ever since Ataturk died

I just hope Turkey continues in this path for a long time

its a cruise missile derived from ATMACA. its supposed to hit land targets.

No the problem is you act like you know everything better. When you say crap like oh you turks need high altitude turbofan engine test facility, it just sounds dumb. There are fucking 1500 engineers working for tei and you act like you found a failure that those fucking 1500 engineers havent thought about yet as if when they finish the prototype of a fucking 20000 lb turbofan engine they will say “ hey where is the high altitude tesst facility there supposed to be one here”

and if you are really naive enough to think that MBDA would give meteor technology to any country let alone turkey there is no need to talk further
