I could not remember such a thing. Can you say which component Italians didn't give us?
76mm ship gun (hence why MKEK develop / copied one)
Fast forty 40L70 gun (also copied by MKEK)

Oh yeah they delivered the 76mm gun after MKEK finished the gun, but that doesn't mean they are innocent. They tried to fuck us with embargo.

Now how smart would it be to give the Italians the helicopter contract, in a time that we almost build it ourselves? If we did not have our local alternative alas but we do (T_925 10t helicopter) that will be based on the T_929 ATAK 2 (which is to fly on March 18 if everything goes right insallah).

I understand the friends who argue that we need it on the L400, but let us be aware that these are not interim purchases. We use those helicopters for 30 - 40 years. And by now you guys must have understand how the EU works, whenever we have the slightest problems with the Greeks or do things that the EU does not like (Libya, Syria, Armenia to sum some) we get these embargoes. Why do we want to slap ourselves, are we dumb or do we like getting slapped?

There could be a delay strategy in the game. S70 and now that we’re developing our own helicopters they’re playing another card to delay domestic purchase. Thr longer you delay purchasing domestic platforms the more people get tired and knowhow becomes harder to hold on to.

I think the AW101 despite being a good helicopter is another trap for our own industry. Those chopper engines should already be mass produced and T129 platforms flying with domestic engines. We’ve already talked this over. So I’m expecting fully domestic chopper with domestic engine that we can export to even North Korea if we want.

I love the idea of an independent defense industry and as humanely possible rate of domestic platforms as much as the next guy but we must also face the fact that - as mentioned earlier - quite a number of naval vessels will be joining the naval active service list within the year (and even more within a few years).
The largest one is TCG Anadolu and it is highest power projecting tool of the new doctrine. Without such a powerful multi-role platform, TCG Anadolu will practically be neutered. It will fail to serve its purpose and worse yet be ineffective as a force multiplier and turn into a liability to the Turkish Navy.
If this news is true (considering Italians are aware of the fact that the US will not sell us any military platforms and a domestic 10T navalised helicopter is not around the corner, why not) maybe we should seriously consider a deal that would include a direct purchase or some off set production or any other options.
We really need such huge naval air platforms, particularly for Anadolu and we don’t have much time left.

Air force guys are stealing the attention nowadays and let me drop these then sail away;

MILDAS/MIDLAS isnt the only VLS being developed by Roketsan or Tubitak.

ADKG Turkish OPV project ships named as Hisar Class will have Meteksan’s Yakamos 2020 sonar fitted for ASW.
As mentioned before this sonar is also being fitted to the Pakistani MILGEM ships.
There is also work to carry this technology to ULAQ and give these unmanned vessels the state of the art ASW capability.

How will they fare against the narco subs? There is a potential sale for South American countries.

Your guess is as good as mine.
Even US is finding it difficult to capture them. As they are not fully submerged but semi submerged, they are difficult to see on a ship’s radar.
They must be noisy and should give off enough noise to be noticed. But even then only 15% of all narco subs are being captured.
There was a fully submerged sub that was captured before it was deployed. But generally they are backstreet workshop semi submersibles that are small 10-20m in length. They are however cleverly designed with a very low observable profile and painted so that even low flying aircraft can’t notice them.

Yakamoz is designed for underwater awareness of mines, submersibles, obstacles, torpedoes and submarines.
In theory it should be able to detect these narco subs.
A system of Aksungur fitted with Meteksan MILSAR SAR/MTI radar checking for mines working in conjunction with Yakamoz, theoretically should do the job.

Seems like semi-submersibles are the future for naval combat among other things.
We gotta invest in those. Cook up some loitering semi-submersible bombs to send into US carriers.

Smart Sonobuoy network centric web and other stuff like Aksungur to overfly /drop mam on unidentified semisubmerged objects. Create a web and tighten it.

Semi submersible drones with surface and underwater attack capabilities seems to me like a no brainer in an a place like the Aegean sea (alot of landmass that could be filled with opfor anti ship platforms puting the Greeks at an advantage)...

One more hint as the date closes in; the winner starts and ends with the same letter of the alphabet.
I'm sorry I can't think of any who start and end with the same letter.

There is STM, Desan, Dearsan, TAIS and Istanbul who made offers, no?

Maybe I understood your comment wrong.
