None of the rockets fired by Iranian militias against the TAF base (90~ km depth) in Mosul/Bashika did not hit the base area.
The attack took place with a rocket launcher mounted on the rear of the vehicle.

What lies behind the peshmerga's plan for Kirkuk?

President of the Iraqi Turkmen Front (ITC), Hasan Turan, said that with the rise in oil prices, the Iraqi Kurdish Regional Government (IKRG) is seeking to export oil from Kirkuk again by ensuring the return of the Peshmerga, and that this may cause a new crisis in the country.

22 November 2021 13:34Updated: 22 November 2021 13:34
What lies behind the peshmerga's plan for Kirkuk?

Reiterating that they are against the return of the Peshmerga to Kirkuk, Turan said in a statement to the AA correspondent, "The efforts to form a government in Iraq, the demands of the Turkmen, the claims of the Peshmerga to return to Kirkuk, the solution proposals regarding the management and security of Kirkuk, and terrorism." organization made evaluations about the PKK threat.

Stating that there was a "critical period" after the early general elections held on 10 October in Iraq, Turan said, "Various opinions and objections to the (non-final) election results led the country to a crisis inevitably. We both detected mistakes in the election law and We defended the manual counting system by stating that the electronic system was completely wrong. We hope the election results will be announced transparently as soon as possible." said.

OIL PLAN

Reminding that the central government in Iraq handled the administrative and security mechanism in Kirkuk in 2017 and ensured the removal of the Peshmerga from the city, Turan said, "The security of Kirkuk is provided by the federal forces, and we are pleased with this. This is for the ethnic groups living in Kirkuk. It's a great assurance." used the phrases.

"The peshmerga's desire to return to Kirkuk is primarily for economic reasons." said Turan, continuing his words as follows:

We have a constant concern about the return issue and we convey this to the relevant authorities. We are against the Peshmerga re-entering Kirkuk and we do not accept this. Kirkuk issue is important for Turkmens and it is also a national file for Iraq and this issue concerns all Iraqis. If the Northern Iraqi administration re-adds Kirkuk oil to its resources, new movements will emerge to disrupt the unity and solidarity of Iraq."

WE HAVE NO OBLIGATION TO PERMIT

Turan said that the Baghdad administration is not likely to abandon the gains made in Kirkuk after 2017 and allow the city to be handed over to the Peshmerga again.

Referring to the presence of the terrorist organization PKK in Iraq and its threat to Kirkuk, Turan said, "The country is entering a risky process and the games played in our regions are great, the PKK terrorism being the foremost among them. But no one should worry; no matter what the threats are, we will continue to fight. we will continue." used the phrases.

'KAZMI HAS ANOTHER CHANCE FOR A PERIOD'

"Who could be the prime minister of the new government?" Turan gave the following answer to the question:

"For us, the project of the new prime minister will be more important than individuals. If there is no change in the status of Kirkuk and Turkmeneli region with the unity and solidarity of Iraq in that project, we will support that prime minister. If the Shiite parties that determine the prime minister come to an agreement, we will start negotiations with the candidate for the prime minister. Mustafa al-Kazimi" "The chance to be prime minister for another term continues. There are different names mentioned for the prime ministership. We would be pleased to have Haydar al-Abadi, one of the former prime ministers, as prime minister again. Abadi had 4 years of experience and positive steps for the Turkmen."

Turan said, "We expect support from the great Turkic world, of which the Turkmen and Iraqi Turks are also a part, and from the Turkish states in order to obtain the rights of the Turkmen in Iraq." finished with his words.

As part of the Claw-Lightning operation, the eastern headquarters of the organization was destroyed along with 18 PKK terrorists in the operation in Avaşin region.

On April 24, 2021, the TSK launched an operation against PKK elements in the Avasin region. As part of the operation, the dominant hills in the region were captured and successful operations against PKK tunnels in the region began.

As part of the operation until June, many hills were taken under control and 5 tunnels were destroyed along with 25 terrorists inside. In the first week of June, the TSK expanded its operation area and launched a new operation on the Werxele/Varhala line.

With the operation launched in the region, conflicts that would last more than 4 months started. Thanks to the intelligence obtained, the location of the tunnel, which is the eastern headquarters of the organization was found. The clashes started directly at the entrance of the tunnel where PKK terrorists were located.

The tunnel is located at a distance of 12~ km from Turkey and on the slope of a low hill at an altitude of 1350m.

The terrorists inside the tunnels that the PKK tried to defend were neutralized by the pressure created by the explosives placed at the entrances and ventilations of the tunnels. But the tunnel at Varhala was large, well ventilated and had many entrances.

TSK units in the region used explosives, camera dogs and unmanned ground vehicles to destroy the tunnel. Thanks to the special system and signal intelligence used by the special forces, information was obtained about the size and structure of the tunnel and the terrorist presence inside.

The tunnel had 7 entrances and multiple ventilations. A new entrance was created which was opened (or widened & deepened) from the top of the tunnel by TSK troops which were tasked place explosives.

The terrorist organization PKK shared images from inside and around the tunnel in the first days of the conflict. In the propaganda video, the neutralized terrorists, the multi-storey tunnel, the room system and the positions they created against explosive pressure are seen.

During the operation, 6 terrorists, including 1 high-level terrorist, were neutralized at the tunnel entrance. The East headquarters of the organization had more than 25 rooms, hospital-style infirmaries in the tunnels. In addition, the terrorists had a lot of living materials and ammunition.

On October 3, Special Forces detonated RDX-type explosives from multiple entrances of the tunnel. The last 12 terrorists who remained inside as a result of the explosions were also neutralized.

Images from the operation in which 12 terrorists were neutralized (in the tweet).

Part of the tunnel collapsed as a result of explosions carried out by special forces. The terrorists who were neutralized as a result of this collapse were buried under the rubble.

The organization announced that 14 of its members, including 2 commanders, have been neutralized by the Turkish Armed Forces so far in the Varhala region.

Some of the terrorists, who were declared neutralized, were seen in the propaganda video shared by the organization from inside the tunnel.

As a result of the explosions, 12 rooms of the tunnel with more than 25 rooms collapsed. Images taken inside the tunnel (in the tweet)

The tunnel was completely destroyed by the troops of the TSK (video in the tweet).

The purpose of this operation on the Varhala line was the destruction of the previously located eastern headquarters of the organization. The hill line where the tunnel is located was not of strategic importance either in terms of location or altitude.

TSK commandos and special forces left the Varhala/Arab Battalion regions in the 3rd week of October after the successful operation.

We wish a speedy recovery to our hero soldiers who were injured during the operation and congratulate our soldiers who successfully completed their tasks.

According to the information available in open sources, the Turkish Armed Forces did not give any martyrs in the Varhala/Arab Battalion regions.

In the operations carried out by the National Intelligence Organization in northern Iraq, 4 PKK terrorists were neutralized in Gara and 2 in Kandil. It was determined that one of the terrorists neutralized in Gara was Nihat Gören, code-named "Botan", one of the so-called foreign relations officers of the PKK/KCK.

It was learned that the terrorist Gören, who was in the PKK's "TAK" organization for a while, was injured in the Claw operations carried out by the Turkish Armed Forces, and continued his activities in Gara after his treatment.

The Turkish Intelligence Organization (MIT) eliminated two PKK terrorists in northern Iraq, one of which was part of violent attacks in Turkey’s southeast in 2015.

According to security sources speaking to Anadolu Agency (AA), the terrorists were determined to be Renas Ermeğan, code-named “Gelhat” and Nevzat Durmuş, code-named “Merhas” from the PKK-linked Civil Protection Units (YPS).

Ermeğan had carried out and planned several attacks against security forces in Şırnap province’s Cizre and Silopi districts in 2015.

Durmuş similarly actively took part in preparing and finalizing an attack in Şırnak’s Beytüşşebap in 2015 and ensured the group’s coordination between Syria and Iraq.

The PKK launched a trench-warfare campaign in several southeastern cities and towns during those years.

Following a ceasefire in effect for 18 months, the PKK resumed its 42 year armed campaign against the Turkish state in July 2015. Suffering heavy blows in the countryside in recent years, this time the PKK has employed new tactics adopted in the Syrian civil war, which included urban warfare tactics in town and city centers hoping to receive support from the local Kurdish population, along with suicide and car bomb attacks against both civilian and military targets.
